I think it's a GT3 spec. G50.. 370bhp 3.7 litre engine. Possibly Ford or maybe they'll be using the Zytek link?
Personally, I don't think it's a good idea - it will give brand dilution.. A bit like the G33/G34 debacle a few
years ago.. But what do I know!!
According to todays Motorsport News it is indeed a GT3 spec G50 - 3.7 litre engine, bigger wheels, tyres & brakes, revised aero.Personally, I don't think it's a good idea - it will give brand dilution.. A bit like the G33/G34 debacle a few
years ago.. But what do I know!!
The plan is for the G50 Cup to have 2 classes - the GT3 spec G55 class & the current G50 class, whilst the G55 will also be eligible for the British GT GT3 Class. It will, apparently, be possible to upgrade the current G50 to G55 spec.
Personally, I would make the G50 Cup car to the same spec as the GT4 version that runs in British GT G4 (ie no rear wing) as that would make it easy for cars to run in British GT4 as and when they wished in the same way as would now appear possible in GT3 & the new class of Ginetta Cup.
As for brand dilution, I'm not sure I agree - Ginetta seems to be a company intent on building racing cars that look like road cars to me, rather than road cars developed in to racers & are therefore trying to broaden their market & sell more cars by offering a cost effective GT3 racer.

The G50 cup car is the same as the GT4 car but with a wing. The wing is taken off and voila - GT4 car. The G55 is not a GT3 car but could be made so with further updates.
Nathan, I certainly bow to your greater knowledge in these areas. I was just repeating the GT3 thing from MN.As for the Cup Vs GT4 debate, then I knew that the wing was the main difference (plus lights & fuel tank/ filling arangements) but why bother with the rear wing on the Cup car anyway. Just have the G50 Cup for standard GT4 cars in my view. Not a big deal, though!
