There are pics of the road ones on the Ginetta website. I don't think they are selling them yet, the focus seems to be on a road G50. The G50 would have been near £50k and that money buys you a 911 or a used Ferrari/Lambo so I suspect the market would have been small, especially as it wouldnt be luxurious it was still basically a race car. I love the G50 though and also want one.

Presumably it would be the same market as TVRs and Nobles, and we all know how well that went for them.

And according to the following article only the 300hp V6 version would be under £50k. For the proper V8 version you'd need £100k.

Let hope the pricing for the G40 isn't quite so optimistic, eh? wink

Not a new 911 - maybe a Cayman if you're lucky.

I've never understood people comparing new cars with secondhand? confused

A road-going G50 would basically be a direct competitor for the Lotus Evora (and aforementioned Cayman - both of which 'only' have a six cylinder under the bonnet).

If they can get into the market in the next couple of years I'd certainly be interested :-)

why not buy an ex-race and then IVA it
could pick one up for 30-35k

I am a bit confused here.

1. The G50 has a 6 cyl engine so would be a direct competitor for the cars you mention above. The Zytek version which I think is a V8 would apparently have cost circa £100k
2. At this price range it is my experience that buyers look at both new and second hand cars, so that has to be a consideration. I have plenty of friends who have bought a used 911 rather than a new Cayman for the same money, and friends who have bought a used Ferrari rather than a new 911.
3. The G50 is (deliberately) not a semi luxury car like a Cayman and for many sports car buyers they will find it a bit basic
4. To compete with £50k cars they will need to do some work on fit and finish as IMO that is not good in comparison with its competitors even in comparison with my 10 year old TVR

Don't mis understand me though, I love Ginettas and am passionate about them and the great Strides LNT has made with the range and the brand. I think they were very wise in holding back on the G50 in this climate. I suspect that it would be very hard to make a road going G50 with stuff like aircon, road type seats, emissions control etc and sell it for £50k and still make much of a margin. The costs of setting up for this would be a big risk. IMO the G40 is a much lower risk, has a wider market and fits in a niche that few others do. Even so, for say £25-30K I would still also consider a used TVR eg a late Tuscan, Porsche 996, Cayman, Exige.

I just dont think selling the G50 is a straight forward as we would like it to be
