Has anyone heard of anyone putting a Rover K-series in a Zetec G27? Ever since driving an S1 Exige I've been in love with that engine.

If it is even possible, how much do you reckon it would cost to get a mechanic to carry out such a transfer, minus the cost of engine and gearbox? I have a basic knowledge of mechanics but I certainly wouldn't trust myself with such a large job!

Isn't the normal K series and box designed for transverse mounting? Certainly all the Rover applications had it as transverse front drive and the Lotus has it as transverse rear drive. I am not sure whether this would cause a problem or not?

Plenty of kit cars have used them longitudinally. For example, Caterham.

The Zetec was designed to be mounted transversely too; so in theory it shouldn't be a problem that hasn't already be solved!
