Ginettas Classic racing
Discussion
this saturday 15th at silverstone there is a large HSCC meeting.
If you wana see classic Ginettas on the track, this is a good meet.
In the historic roadsports there will be 3 Ginetta G4s running, and Dave Randall with a chance of outright win again.
The Guards Trophy has the Dodd Ginetta G16, which has also been winning outright this season...over the Chevrons etc
I'll hopefully be there will take some pics

hmm, i think its more of a definite NO unfortunately
the heritage events were organised by Spadge and even in in the first year where a whole series was promised, i think only 2 races happened.
Now there is no mention of any more Heritage races and especially unlikely since he has now left GH
Best bet is Hscc for classic Ginettas or SRGT & Semsec for newer/Dare

hscc races are 20mins.
cscc are all 40mins with compulsory pit/driver change
the main prob with cscc is the regs are very loose (which can be a good or bad thing!)
The G4s do really well (and often win) in HSCC as the cars all have to adhere to the strict regs regarding engine/box and chassis mods.
As my car is v original i want to keep it that way, and so HSCC is the better option for me. The engine has to be kept pretty much at 1500cc, no LSD allowed etc
-to be competitive/win in the CSCC races, G4 may be better off with twin-can, IRS, LSD, which adds to the costs
races in the cscc work out near to double the cost of hscc (but they are double the length ofcourse)

But the fixed costs of transport/ overnight stay (if applicable) etc are the same for double the race mileage with CSCC, so the costs per race mile are cheaper. You can share costs with a mate in CSCC (or even earn a "hire" fee) too. Horses for courses, I suppose.cscc are all 40mins with compulsory pit/driver change

You are right that regs in CSCC are more liberal but you could do a few races in both in the same car & the G4 would be pretty competitive even in HSCC trim. Swinging Sixties has been so popular over the last few years that it has been split into 2 grids for 2011 - the split is on the CSCC web site but essentially it means that a G4 now has an even higher chance of finishing very high up the finishing order in the "smaller engined" Swinging Sixties race.
Geoff, is this the original G10 I saw being prepared that was at Spadge's?
My front Coupe screen was loaned to make a batch of new ones, because I had the only original G10/11 screen.
Apart of course from NWD - if it's still out there and in one piece.
Gosh, that looks the business in red and black top. Perhaps I'll get the 11 resprayed red again!
One thing, god, those damn awful INcorrect front indicators and sidelights. Looks like they have used Imp rears, oh dear. Get the correct Lucas glass ones, not hard!
Note wipers different position on Rod's to the red car.
And, of course, geeman, the G10 didn't just 'chase' the Lightweight - it beat it!
Not that you'll read that anywhere in all the E-Type 50th anniversary stuff going around at the moment.

John, it's certainly the original one. I heard that Spadge had some involvement with it when Bamford brought it home, but I didn't know what. Also I've never heard of Gelscoe who apparently did the restoration.
There's an interesting post from former owner Roger Spiers on 10 tenths:
