I heard it rumoured that Tamotsu Maeda (importer of Ginettas, Japan) died, anyone confirm this?

Note the Mazda RX7 styled by Matasaburo Maeda, is touted as being revised by the designer's son, Ikuo Maeda, now head of Mazda design.

I suppose name 'Maeda' in Japan is a bit like the name 'Smith' here, or is there a connection?

I find it interesting how you get Mazda out of Maeda and Toyota out of Toyoda.

Mazda was chosen as the name of the company because it wasn't a million miles away from the founders name and because its linked to the Zaostrian God of Light.

Toyota from Toyoda... err... A Yard stick of Sakae might do the trick...

Toyota from Toyoda was due to the number of characters that make up the name Toyota (in Japanese) being less or a more lucky number than those that make up Toyoda.. It was on the wireless a few days or weeks ago.. iirc
