The 1999 Dare G4 in the classifieds that hasn't sold (not surprising at £18,750) is now to be auctioned.

Trouble is, auction catalogue estimate is 15-17k, for a car that has NO tax and NO MOT!
You'd think at the least they would have given it a ticket.
Wonder why not?

Might go and have a look but with buyer's 10% premium as well, it would have to be way below the estimate for me to bid.

Wonder what the reserve is?

No. I'm told you have to buy one (20 quid!).

I just heard what they paid for this car, so either they are gonna cut their losses bigtime or it won't sell.

I might just stump up the 20 quid so I can go and crawl underneath it to see what state the chassis is in. 5000 miler should be fine, so why on earth not give it a ticket? Hmm.

But then if it's been outside for 11 years! I note blowing pics up there is some 'green' on insides of bottom of door screens... carpet missing from driver footwell, but suppose that's not an issue ...except it is, especially on a estimated 15-17 grand car!
Why would you remove any interior carpet?
...damp?

That's it.

I think if I can get time I'll go along and have a crawl under it.

The description says:
'in "excellent" condition with regard to its engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork...'

which misses out the vital part, the 'chassis'.

I'll repeat again, If it's that good why on earth not give it a 12 months mot ticket to ensure a sale?

they have also a Gordon Kebble in this auction for sale which is described in the same way..its like to put lipstick on a pig....

most cars for sale in this auction tend to be in a critical state.

Hmm.

Note the G4 has been removed from the sellers website, wonder if instruction is to sell and cut losses? Rusty chassis, what's it worth?

John, i think that car could well be being disposed of as part of liquidated stock, in which case they don't bother with such sensible acts as MOT testing, they just sell whatever is around as is.

The Action Car G4 Coupe V379 TWL
http://www.classic-auctions.co.uk/lotdetail.php?lo...

I had a look over the car at Paul Matty's

It is a clean car, and the Chassis looks to be in good shape. In fact like new. However there was some things that did give me concern. There was a smell of petrol around this car when I looked under it and opened the bonnet. (In fairness it might have come from this car).

There was still a number of minor things that needed attention. The rear window looks as though it is about to pop out being one of them.

i didn't see any green in the windows

But as the car was a short cockpit version it was no use to me. On the phone Paul Matty's staff said that paul had driven it and he is much taller than me. I don't see how he could have done that very easily.

The other G4 Coupe
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C133908/

Looks a nice car, However, I was in negotiations with the then owner a couple of years ago and he wanted £ 18-20K for it. claiming it to a long cockpit. When he sent through the pictures the chassis and suspension had a fair bit of corrosion on it.

IMHO a rusty Chassis means a strip down and rebuild with new Chassis. Don't have a clue what that would cost.

Anyone know what the G4 at Auction went for?

Did a dealer buy it?

Would be interesting to know what the true market value is for the car.

It didn't sell.
Which hardly surprised me.
It was Lot 6.

Very oddly today it comes up as Lot '5' and says it's now sold for 16,500!

I understand PMatty paid 15k for it, so no wonder it was up for 18750.

So he got his money back ...just, after commission etc.

Wonder who paid 16.5k, what's the betting it's gone overseas?

What is going on with this car?

Didn't sell at the first auction with estimate 15-17k

Then appears as different lot number and sells at £16,500.

Now, it comes up as Lot 42 and sold at £11,000.

...and elsewhere.

What is going on with this car, very odd?

One minute it's sold the next it isn't...

If they're reading this, I'll give them 10k cash and take a chance!

With no mot it's never gonna make the asking price.

Wonder what made Mattys price it so high to start...
They must have looked up when it was first out in 1998 at that daft £28k!

Someone should have told them they later dropped 'new' to much lower and remember at one point Brooke were doing the coupe and convertible as rolling chassis with virtually only the eng/box to fit at below £16k. This car may even have been one of these!

They sell quite a lot now if they did that again. But hey, looks like the only option is to buy secondhand.

Does that mean 15 URO is coming together nicely and quickly or that you need ££s to finance it!biggrin
15 URO is gonna be worth a penny or two! And I don't mean the car.
That reg can almost translate to TRURO - just find the richest person in Truro and bingo!

What colour are you having it?

As for your other one will it be going back on the R plate?
When you are going to put it up?
