you bet... the G16 is pretty versatile platform. Open car, targa, T-bar, full coupe. They have had moulds for doing a coupe for ages.
I think its all do-able
I like the Targa Panel version as in pic- where u can just remove 2 panels leaving a central part in the roof, but not sure about the windscreen. Prefer the G12 type with pointed corners.
G16 originally ran many different engines, like the BMW or BRM engines. But ofcourse a nice 2.3 Duratec 4cylinder (longitudinal) with appropriate gearbox, would be a nice modern alternative- easy to get 220-250 BHP and emissions friendly. I suppose a V6 duratec could in theory fit too.
Weight of G16 with 4 cylinder approx ~600kg
G16 also has more legroom and width than G12
i know Dare have made a few G16s for Japan over the years..

Jeees!! DO WE have to get back into all this cr**
If you want to discuss this then what about all the G4s and G12s that have been made by Ginetta (Ginetta Heritage).... The rights to G4 and G12 are still owned by a Japanese guy and Dare are the sole recognised agents..
Im not sure who officially owns the G16 rights, i posted the above merely to show what potenetially could be done with the G16
But Dare website states that 'replacement G16 chassis/body are available'

The Ginetta G 16 was sold from Ginetta Cars Ltd. some years ago by M Phaff to a Japanese guy a good friend to Dare .
Ginetta Cars do not hold the rights to this model and have no rights to condone full factory backing to this: G4 or G12
Ginetta Heritage are playing with words to create credibility for cars they make and have no right to issue chassis number for these cars.
You were told once before I gess you forgot !
The G4 is around 3.40 m long
The G12 3.55 m long
The G16 about 12-15 cm longer than G12 and a fair bit wider. I think G16 wheelbase is also longer.
Overall the G16 looks a good size, 6 footer will certainly fit in one.
The general design/layout is v similar to the G12. The G16 was designed as a development of the G12 theme, allowing more power and much wider wheels.
A G16 may have a similar amount of leg room as a long-base G4 at the very least, But with advantage of no central tranmission tunnel and a wider cockpit..
Oh and the G16 had door handles on the outside!!
If Ginetta Heritage start producing continuation chassis for the G16 that they have no legal rights to, it will create potentially untold problems in the future. There is already speculation about spurious G12 and G4 chassis acquiring old chassis numbers by devious routes which besides muddying the histories could lead to disputes in the future.
They are currently advertising a G12 with a continuation chassis number that predated the existence of Ginetta Heritage by a good three years. This vehicle was not constructed by them, the chassis being purchased by a privateer without any number, but having aquired access to the vehicle all of a sudden it appears to have been given a retrospective chassis number.
This is blatent tampering using the good name of Ginetta to generate credibility. So having all the dimensions I'm off to make my own chassis, just wondering what number to give it, any suggestions?

yeah right!! nice backtrack
think before u post.......... it will save u the embarassment next time.
but if u have anything constructive to add re the G16 feel free.
Embarrassed? Not me.... I love the curves of the G4, 12 and 16 as much as I do the angles of the later cars, and I have the greatest admiration for what the Walkletts achieved - we still have four of their cars (OK, three and a 'replica' G22, but do I care?). Achieved is the operative word here - Ginetta continues to survive thanks largely to the efforts of others, companies like Ginetta Cars Limited and Ginetta Heritage. think before u post.......... it will save u the embarassment next time.

I love Dexter Brown paintings, but can't afford an original. Instead, I have a numbered print of his classic 917 work - it may not be an original, but it is still a damn good picture...
PS - this is Mr Broomsticklady, but I hijack her PH account from time to time. Sure, she has the rights to it, but she is cool about that...
