Yeah even mine is classified as a kitcar, believe even TVR's and Lotus'es are as it being based upon fibreglass. No matters how hard you try and argue its a "classic, built by the manufacture" they still wont accept it.

I remember one of Fluxes bods saying to me that kit cars where a very good bet insurance wise (for them) due to the fact you spend half your life building one, you dont go and then smash them up, so the insurance rates are much lower than simular performance production cars. Whats the issue here?

Dan my son insured a G32 through Adrian Flux at 21 years old cheaper than his Peugeot 106. All were factory built under low volume type approval

Dan we are doing a similar thing using a 2 litre blacktop zetec on throttle bodies mated to a ST170 6 speed getrag box. They only made about 120 of these.

there only being 120 made is part of the atraction

do you have any more information ian ? pictures of the engine bay would be nice please smile

am thinkin black top and mtx75 from a 97> mondeo with st200 ratios in it as i have them this would give slightly taller gearing and it would be cable opertated linkages

views on the above spec please

Hi Dan,
would be nice if you could show some pictures of your installation.
At the moment I'm using a modified Rover M16 manifold on a Zetec but want to change to TBs too (Yamaha R1 injectors on a modified Zetec manifold).

We used a blacktop 1.8 mated to (believe it or not) a 1.4 van gearbox to get the final drive ratio we wanted, with a Turbo clutch and LSD. Might sound an odd comb
uination, but it works....
