Hi all,

Have a opportunity to acquire a G27 Series 3 (pop up headlamps and head rest fairings) which is as good as finished.

Only question surrounds the SVA test. This car passed the SVA test about 6 years back but was never road registered. The certificate is available but I understand that they are only valid for 2 years.

Can anyone confirm this, and if it is the case, what are the chances of getting the G27 through the current test? In effect, does anyone kow what changes to the test have occurred in the last few years.

thanking you in anticipation.

John i am not sure if it has changed to IVA test yet but there are detail changes & its £450 plus £150 for a retest unless it is very cheap i would steer clear there are a few G27's about at a reasonable price

It won't pass with pop up headlights i believe. Series 4 came about to revise the series 3 to pass the SVA test, which included chassis for things like steering column mounts i believe. Later bonnet will go one series three though if that is the only worry.

give ginetta, dare or GKD a call...they should know what to do...

or call spadge hopkins from ginetta heritage, he might help you too.

maybe there is somebody among the above mentioned companies who can "organize" you a kind of registration.....

I really don't understand your comments sometimes? And it seems to be a recurring theme in your posts. Are you suggesting that one of the above will 'ring' a car for money?

maybe somebody of them have a V5 in their backhand or know a "donor" car for a v5...i know thats not the official way, but it is a possibility...which definately exists.

have seen G4-S4´s with G26 and G21 paperwork, G27 with G15 and so on.
Locost and MK-indy with dutton V5´s (recently discussed in the kitcar forum at PH)

these cars exist and sure some more as i´ve recognized in the past years.

Talk to GKD they might be able to help, but I'd guess that you would need fixed headlights..

You could also buy a series 4 bonnet (later mx5 headlights) from ginetta. I know someone has recently done this to convert an earlier bonnet.
