Haven't posted anything on Pistonheads for quite a while. Had a bit of a run of bad luck with cars, armco, trees. Things like that.
Can somebody please enlighten me? Is the G12 road legal? Can it be made road legal? Can you still buy new cars from Dare? I love the look of Ginettas and I want one but I'm confused about the whole thing.

Hi, Malcolm,

yes, some G12s are road legal. Check out the G12 section on the Ginetta Heritage forum: http://www.ginettaheritage.co.uk/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=12
and on the home page http://www.ginettaheritage.co.uk/ginettag12/ginettag12.htm

It seems that PistonHeads does not allow links, so please copy and paste the addresses.

Malcolm - you could always buy our Dare G4, which will be at Ginetta Heritage premises from the end of June. That is very much a road car, but equally at home on track days, sprints, etc.

I see, yes. Is that a standard or long cockpit one? I'm 6'2" with size 11 feet.....It might or it might not work. Is there somewhere I can see pictures of the car and what would be the best way to see the actual machine?

Malc

Oh, putting 2 and 2 together I think I know which car that is on the site: The one coming down from Scotland?

6'2" and G12 prob dont combine well. the chances of u finding a G12 let alone a road-registered G12 is very slim i think.
You should fit in long wheel base G4
Alternative is the new car being made by Dare, it is G12-type design but modernised and updated so most people can fit, and will pass SVA no prob
(a regular new G12 from Dare will not pass SVA/IVA)

Really? What is this new car from Dare? I think the G12 is a little bit more beautiful than the G4 but it's close. Very close.

Yet another one off the the painter !!

a genuine Walklett product can't be more original if you try!

They have just started to mold their new car from the plug !! (Big G12)
much larger cockpit than tradition but with a traditional Ginetta/Walklett design.
Transverse Ford Duratec - boot space - wind up window - air conditioning.
I can't hardly wait myself !!
Chassis body for G12 no problem !

That is the one - 6'2" and big feet are not a problem with our G4 - it was built specifically to accommodate my long legs and I also have sizeable plates. Spadge is picking the car up on the 29th and returning on the 30th, so it is viewable after then. The mileage is genuine, and less than 700 miles...

It's too much money but I'll see if I can pop up when the car comes down. Be a nice trip out for the kids as well. I've never actually seen one in the flesh much less sat in one.
There's a kind of intrigue about this whole Ginetta thing; trying to figure out who Spadge is, where Spadge's site is, what the relationship is between dare and Ginetta. I think I've been on it for about a year!

This is my first message on the forum, I have been following Ginettas for years. My favourite thread on PistonHeads is the Ginetta photos. Thanks guys!

But this BIG G12 looks like it will be fantastic, and a Walklett Ginetta, the real deal! I am looking forward to seeing the finished article and wonder what the price will be, where can I find more info?

If you think its expensive, you had best ask the Walkletts for the price of either a new G4 or a G12 - I think you might be surprised....

Oh dear, misunderstanding. I didn't say I thought it was expensive. Indeed it is not. It's expensive for me is what I meant...
