Ginetta range pricing.

How long is a piece of string?
It really is quite difficult due to the nature of the cars, they are usually quite unique and differing specs and therefore general prices are quite difficult. Rough ones are cheap; pristine usually sell quickly and command a premium.
Not much help i know. Go look at the ones you are serious about and you will quickly get a feel for what is right for the money. Good ones don't come up for sale that often as they tend to be kept for ever by the owners.

I have been keeping an eye on G27 prices and it seems that the V8 ones are not very popular as most people would prefer a G33. If it’s not MOT’d or not yet SVA'd this will nock £2000-£3000 of its value. Pinto models normally go for £5000+ and Zetec ones go for £6000+. This is just a guide as it does depend on the spec.

Very difficult to value them really, how much work are you prepared to do? I've seen part built G27's go for around 2k. I looked at an ex-race G27R before buying but after a year of searching (and saving!) found a well built road car. Absolutely love it !
Seeing you have Ginetta and TVR Chimaera, which one you prefer to drive ?Very tough question to answer! They are very different cars really, the TVR is very heavy and awkward to drive compared to the Ginetta. The TVR's faster in terms of outright speed but I have more confidence in the Ginetta's handling.
They both do around 23mpg but the TVR costs a lot more to insure (£1,000 compared to £200).
I guess if you had to drive to the South of France you'd take the TVR straight down the auto routes, enjoy the speed and the rumble of the V8 & more spacious interior. However if you wanted to blast through the small B roads and keep under 65 mph you'd go for the Ginetta!
One other thing to consider might be servicing. I maintain them both myself (with a little help from my friends!) and the Ginetta is easier to work on & generally bits are cheaper.
Is that useful at all?!

Yes - very. I like both and can see that you got very good taste in car. Seem Ginetta is favourite as it is cheaper to run. They both do around 23mpg but the TVR costs a lot more to insure (£1,000 compared to £200).

So what value would you put on the "not very popular" G27 V8? I must be in the minority of really NOT wanting a G33 and only considering a G27, the availability of V8 version that was 15% lighter and 30% more powerful than G33 was just icing on the cake

Its just that the G33 was designed for a V8. One recently went for £6000 on ebay and another one that wasn't SVA'd reached £4500 but didn't reach the reserve. I would say 6-7k but you got to make sure its got a good engine and make sure its got a dyno graph to prove the sellers claimed "280bhp". As people have said, its hard to put a price on it. Every car is different and is only worth waht the buyer will pay for it.Andrew

Major difference is that the G33 was never available as a kit it was a factory built low volume production car so they have a constistent build and were very expensive and in my view in a different market and not directly comparable to the G27's. Recent e-bay V8 sold for less then £5000 and the engine power is well documented I can honestly say that you would not be able to buy either of those cars for less than £7500.
