Hello everyone,
This is my first post so I would like to start by saying hello and making a quick presentation.
I have always had a soft spot for classic cars since my childhood (my father was a Jaguar fan) and the only 4 wheel vehicle (I love bikes too...) I currently own is a 1983' Porsche 930. Fantastic character and performance but I guess there other places to discuss it than this forum...
I am toying with the idea of getting a car for track days and I am contemplating the purchase of a Dare G12.
I went on the website, saw different videos, and am really smitten with the car.
But before getting ahead of myself, I would like to know some basic info such as..
1. first off how much does it cost? Can I fing second hand examples and where?
2. Are there any known issues with the car that I should be aware of?
3. Is the car still available? Is Dare a solid company?

Thank you very much!

Good questions..! Great choice of car to be fond of and to consider as a track day tool
The Dare G12 has been around since around mid 90s(?), and there have been approx 200 or so built. Unfortunately these are almost all in Japan (couple in USA, at least 1 in the UK). So second hand ones will come up for sale but only in Japan.
Engine options are zetec, YAC, and now the preferred Duratec (-up to 2.3 litres and 260+ HP)
The cars are still available, although Dare are concentrating on a new model which combines some features of G12 and G16 in a new package. They are a solid company that of course has decades of experience in building cars.

Im not aware of any issues with the car except that you will need to be shorter than 5'11 to fit comfortably in standard version, but there is now a long wheel base version that gives extra 3" legroom. They are very successful and very well sorted race cars..
Price for used examples-- possibly between £25000- 35000 for Jap car.

£25 - £35k ?
I have a couple of Ginettas ( not G12, but I used to have a round tube G4 ) so I would suggest for a lot less you could get a good Duratec engined Sports 2000 car. The build quality would be much better.

Correct:

Chevron S2000, 1978 I think, went for £17K ready nearly to race.It is the real thing and with full provenance.
I paid £6K for my roller Lola S2000 T 490.

None have a hard top body though, and none as pretty as the G12!

Try asking Dare (!), Brooke Kensington and Paul Stephens.... If anyone is likely to have a half decent and legit one they are, or know about them... Be prepared to pay a bit tho... It might also be worth looking on the Owners Club website... possibly seeing what's for sale, although you may have to register, but if you're serious about getting one it would be worth being a member..

Brooke Kensington are Elise only these days despite what their website might have you believe. They may still have some helpful contacts though.

IIRC when i was looking to a G12 by Dare, the rolling chassis was about £28K+
The offer from Crossle was about the same, and it seems to me that anything special, 4 pot and mid engined will be that number as a racing car.
