G27R questions
Discussion
I have been looking at a few differnt cars now (Ultima, GT40, Fisher Fury, 7 based platforms, BEC's etc) and my searching has led down the Ginetta path. I'll admit to having heard of the manufacturer but not knowing anything at all about them. The exculsivity, fantastic lines of the car and value seems to be quite a draw. I can't find any info on this specific model regarding the following questions, so any help would be much appreciated.
1. What would the expected weight of a Zetec engine'd G27 R be?
2. Is there a hood available?
3. With circa 180bhp, what would the expected performance be like?

I have a 2 Litre Pinto engined G27 and let's put it this way. I regularly left my mates BMW M3 for standing and I've done silly things proving a V8 Esprit Turbo can't shake a G27 off it's tale.
So with a Zetec on carbs and 180bhp on tap you're well on your way to showing an Exige a thing or two.
G27 is a superb little car GKD are doing a BMW based kit which should be good too

Ginettas have always been good at showing larger more powerful better known cars a thing or two especially where corners are involved My G33 will keep up easily with a ferrari 355 up to about 120mph where the drag of bieng a convertible has more effect. On twisty stuff you need a caterham So with a Zetec on carbs and 180bhp on tap you're well on your way to showing an Exige a thing or two.

or an atom to out do a good Ginetta
Personally I am not sure about the things GKD have done to the styling of the G27, but that is subjective.
Mercy beaucoup for all the advise guys. The GKD website looks as though it is still being developed as it links to G27 parts but doesn't list any. Does anyone have a picture of either the soft or hard top fitted? Also a price for either if known. Would a 180bhp Zetec pose any reliability issues?
Many thanks for all your help

A zetec at 180bhp will run all day with nor problems provided it is mapped correctly. On carbs it will be running 2d ignition only, on throttle bodies it will be running 3d with fueling.
My old zetec ran at 200bhp and was as reliable as the mondeo it came from.
Mine's on 45DCOEs with 3D ignition (+ air temp correction)My old zetec ran at 200bhp and was as reliable as the mondeo it came from.
