Heritage Races
Discussion
9th december on the ginetta heritage home page says:
'The Ginetta Heritage Race Series will be joined by a Championship that will be free to enter for anyone competing in any Ginetta, anywhere in the world! Details of both will be published soon.'
so maybe there will be 2 race series? Dare cars should be eligible then..

This is the same series it's just that the Ginetta factory have found meetings/homes for all of its series and left this proposed series to fend for itself. Its going to be a struggle to get it off the ground without access to the Ginetta meetings mainly because of the poor showing at the Mallory Festival and the fact that most clubs are already concluding their arrangements for next year - but you never know. If it gets going I think you'll find it will include Dare cars!!
Spadge had a bit of a nightmare, due to a rival series springing up out of the blue. We had one race this year, at Mallory, and he and a number of the other G4 owners are having a bit of an impromptu series, via CSCC Swinging Sixties and a few other rounds - there are a few of us out at Silverstone week after next with the Bentley Racing Drivers Club.
Last time I spoke to Spadge, he was confident there will be more races next year.

Why not just ask the CSCC to run a Ginetta class (for all Ginetta up to, say, G27) within either "Swinging Sixties" or "Future Classics" - they have a Lotus only Class. You get the benefit, then, of racing in a big grid & of being able to have your own class/ marque battles but you don't have to try to buy & fill your own grid at someone else's meeting! The CSCC also gets an invite now to a 1 hour race at Spa each year. Entry & membership fees are very competitive.Last time I spoke to Spadge, he was confident there will be more races next year.
Edited to add that you would also get the benefit of being able to enter a second race as CSCC always have a "Sports Vs Saloon" challenge race at the end of each day. Entry fees for these races (if you have already raced that day) are about £90-95 for a 15/20 min sprint.

are there any G15 race cars?
AFAIK only one racing in UK at present with the HSCC (plenty of Sprinters and Hillclimbers). One racing in Germany and one in France.I am currently putting a G15 Racer together with a 1068cc motor and 5-speed transaxle. Hope to be out with Ginetta Heritage as well as CSCC Swinging Sixties next season.

Future Classics won't let the Zetec-engined G20's and G27's in, which is the bulk of the cars. Its a shame, as that would be an ideal solution. To be fair to CSCC, the Zetec's not really an 80's engine!
I thought that would be the case, however, they do allow invitation entries that are "in the spirit of the series". (& I think the Zetec engine was introduced in 1991 so not too far from the 1980s!!!). How about you put a proposal to them for a Ginetta G20/ G27/ Dare G4 class in Future Classics; you might be able to persuade them if, say, you could indicate with a reasonable degree of confidence that you'd be able to get 5-6 cars out regularly. Point out that it would also help them build Future lassics grids. Failing that you could also ask for a permanent Ginetta Class within the Sports Vs Saloon Challenge races. These run at every meeting (usually one on sat & another on sunday) & are the more normal 15/ 20 min sprint races. One of the Jaguar series already runs within this. For a Ginetta class to run in either of the races mentioned you would have to be confident of getting regular interest, though.Edited by andy97 on Friday 31st July 09:11

I think the difficulty would be getting that regular commitment; there's a lot of classes out there for the G20's, and not that many G27R's left racing. Which is a shame. I think next year I will be out with Swinging Sixties, hopefully in a G4.

Introduced in 1991, under the '92 model year cars. Was technically designed in the 80s...I know that Future Classics have let in MGFs in the past, as well as a 1990s Mazda RX7 (version 3, I think) and I understand have given permission for a Fiat Coupe to race next year. If I was a Ginetta owner, I would definately push and keep pushing for the CSCC to let a Zetec engined car race in Future Classics. They are definately within the spirit of the the series in my view and FC could do with a boost in numbers.
Keep pushing!

I'll add that little gem to another e-mail and see what happens - I'm currently racing a bunch of Crossles, and while fun, its a bit one-sided!Keep pushing!
