Given the recent massive expansion and quest for world domination by ginetta, i think someone should point LNT in the direction of northamptonshire. There is an F1 team for sale for a quid.... smile

Honda are 'already' in negotiations... which is pretty quick considering the economic mess.
Tomlinson probably has the dosh, and he is certainly 'hands on' which is more than you can say for some F1 dummies... makes you wonder - how cool would that be!

Leaving the general problems of F1 aside, It represents a bargain opportunity for someone to get their hands on one of the best f1 setups i reckon.

Well, what i meant was if you are in the running to buy an f1 team, this is the best opportunity you will get to buy what is regarded as the team with the best facilities in the paddock. I've just read a newspaper article on my way home with Eddie Jordan saying the same thing and stating if he had the money or could get the backing he would be in there like a shot! He even uses the words once in a lifetime bargain!

A ginetta badge in the F1 paddock really would be something else!

Wasn't there a BRM-powered F1 car? I seem to remember that work started on it but did it ever run? Not to mention an F3 with a rather odd chassis.

'IF' they had been completed (the F3 G19 got to prototype stage) they would both have been BRM powered. The F3 with 2.0 BRM V8 and the stillborn F1 (proposed G20) with 3.0 BRM V12.

The Walkletts did even more than just looking at F1, they got part way not only designing but casting and building their own proposed 1.5 litre blown engine - 2 stroke with 12 pistons on 2 horizontally opposed cranks.

There were lots of ideas and challenges over the years but much got overtaken by other events. One interesting project was looking at an electric 2 seater Ginetta which used a tiny petrol engine to get a 'charge as you go' for the batteries as well as the normal mains charging required.
