A mate of mine runs a G32 Turbo and is looking to improve the brakes.
Which Mk Fiesta is the G32 based on?

What are peoples recommendations for upgrading the brakes?
At the moment the brakes are stock, with braided hoses.
Is it necessary to change calipers and discs?
Apparently the pedal requires a lot of effort which would leave me to believe that the pedal ratio might need increasing.

Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

Chris.

Front brakes are XR2 Mk2(83-89) discs , calipers and pads.

Rear calipers and pads are sierra - any with solid rear discs.

Proper rear discs are a thing of mystery. They were apparently fitted to some very small volume German market MK1 fiesta special edition (as fronts) and nothing else!!??
No-one has been able to find an exact replacement but a MK 3 fiesta 1.1 front disc will fit near enough although the outer diameter is slightly too small so you should file the pads down to suit.

As for mods, other people have fitted grooved or drilled discs and claim that it helps with initial bite but you're always going to have to give the pedal a fair shove to stop quickly compared to a modern car due to the lack of servo assistance.

I would get your mate to sign up on the owners club, as there is a technical resource with quiet afew people jumped up on the G32.
To be honest the standard fiesta brakes/calipers are good enought, what people fail to see is friction and a performance set of pads along with discs can drastically improve things. Also using a better quality brake fluid can help.

Hello,

I've fitted some Escort Cosworth / Scorpio 24V front calipers along with Mondeo Ø260mm disks. These require 4mm alloy spacers (sandwiched between hub and disk) and an inner ring to make sure that the disks are not running off-centre.
