It seems very expensive bearing in mind that a complete car can be bought from Dare for a little over £30K.

Yeah, I thought the G4 was pretty steep too, seems a slightly odd engine choice too for the vintage, but then again, I guess not; Fors running gear, and enough poke for the weight. Not looked into its history either.

Never known how much a new G12 from Dare would cost, £30k seems cheap - what drivechain and spec would that get you?

Been some time since I've visited this excellent site!

The plot for me looks like this now:

Lola t 492 with a Porsche 911 3200cc engine on webers, 550Kg and 250 bhp/lbft.
I'm still welding tubes everywhere!

All my own work.
Still wanted a G12 but none to be found...at the time.

Excellent work - those rear tyres look huge! The the engine looks pretty mosterish too.
The panel work looks good - I like the period vents in a smoothed out T shape.

As an aside, I saw a Chevron B16 sell at auction recently - they are a lot smaller up close than they look on the race track, but I still prefer the B8s

Nobody dislikes a B8 unless it has just beaten him!

I know someone who does actually circuit race one and it is just the very best car you can find, but you will need 130K+ for a real one or 100K for a continuation version.
Makes a good G12 look cheap, and my Lola posativly mega cheap....

I always thought that a Van Diemen Multisport (remember them?) would be good with a Porsche Flat 6 in it & would be a great track car. I think fitting a Subaru engine was popular on the continent, too.

The Impreza engien/box was a firm favorite at the start because i know them well and their potential from my hillclimb Sti. The box was a bit of an issue (very very long) and the drive shaft outputs are far forward.

Thing is also:

Lola Porsche sounds better to me than Lola Subaru!

Engine favorites were

Audi 1.8 turbo and box (4 pot sounds though...)
Audi 2L diesel (interesting but to poluting, mega torque)
Rover V8 ( everyone has one, but sounds fab, which gearbox?)
Pinto (old hat/iron. Cheap for 150 bhp, huge money for 200/220 max)

Graham.
