HELP NEEDED ... what is this track rod end from?

Hi,

I need your help ...

... I have to replace my track rod ends on my Ginetta G27 S3.

Do you know what car they are from?

Thanks, Stefano

They look the same as the ones used on G27 racecars, a hybrid part made by Ginetta . I believe they are Triumph Spitfire, like the steering rack, but extended with a screwed in extra section to make them longer. There should be an adaptor in the steering arm part of the Sierra hub to reduce the size of the hole to suit the smaller taper of the Spitfire track rod end.Probably not a stock Ginetta item any more but worth asking them first before making things up yourself,
hth,
Dave

Wasn't Matey from the company who now own the rights to the G27 on here recently offering parts to someone else.

Might be worth looking through the older posts.

Hi,

Thank you for the informations ...

The track rod ends are Triumph Spitfire parts. They are shortened by +/- 10 mmm (well, mines were) and there is an extension screwed in.

The adaptors in the steering arms are needed but I can't find these parts. I met GKD at Stoneleigh (and also Rallydesign)but they can't help.

Do someone know where I can find those parts ... or will I have to machine these adaptors?

The adaptors usually stay in the steering arms so you can re use them , if they do come out, clean them and refit with some bearing fit to help keep them in. There should be a large washer under the taper pin nut overlapping the original hole in the steering arm as an extra safety device to prevent the adaptor coming out by accident.
If you need the extensions for the track rod ends you may be able to remove the ones if you get them hot ( if they have been thread locked in ). if they have been welded in then safest to make new ones.
If you have to make up adaptors it would be worth seeing what it would take to fit Sierra track rod ends to the spitfire rack.
As an aside , its worth checking the bump steer while you are in there, I haven't seen one that was right as standard (G27 or G20 racecars)and for a small amount of effort makes the car nicer to drive ( fast ! )

HTH
