I've just noticed a Dare Ginette G4 for sale on Ebay.fr. The car appears to be a short wheel base with a 1.7L engine. It's being sold by a dealer and marked as being first registered in 1965!!!!! They are asking the ridiculous price of 29,900 euros, or £24,000 in real money!!!! Any offers????

He he, just had a look.

Talk about jumping on the bandwagon. Ginetta certainly to the fore at the moment and some people are going to get conned while others cash in.

1965 indeed!

Just tried to email them but they want my details, so can't be bothered.
Ironic, as I'd be interested if the price was sensible. £24,000 for a Dare G4 and not even a Zetec at that. I reckon it's a 98/99 car.

Just sent the vendor an e-mail requesting confirmation that the car was built in 1965. This should produce some interesting results bearing in mind that DARE didn't exist then. However, from a selfish point of view, I hope the car is sold for that sum - can only be good for the rest of us to then rush off to France and sell our Ginettas and the buy a new G12/16 with the loot!!!!!

Ditto. I've done the same. Bet we don't get a response.

please bare in mind that "kitcars" are not easy to registrate in france. so people are willing to pay lots of money if the car has a french registration, incl. a french mot.

i live in germany near the french border and from my expirience you sell such type of cars (e.g.: super-seven, ginetta, tvr...) around 30%-to50% more expensive than in germany.

nobody read the advert? it clearly says that the car (chassis) was reconditioned 1990 by Dare. also reconditioned engine, incl. a 12months warranty for the car.

I had a response from the vendor - he assures me that the car was first registered in 1965 and "reconditionned" by Ginetta in 1990. So, no mention of Dare this time. I am sure the guys at Dare will know whether the car is genuine or not!!
