G32 TURBO Info for those who want it.
Discussion
Info regarding G32 turbo (for who it may interest) as there is a so much misinformation about out there.
NONE were ever built by the factory.
However, the T/A (Type Approval) testing was all done assuming it 'was' powered by the Escort Turbo engine.
For the barrier [crash] test the car carried ballast to reflect the increased
weight of turbo and intercooler and pipework etc.
Also, all of the high speed brake testing at MIRA was carried out assuming the turbo car would have a top speed of 130 mph, whereas the non-turbo would be around 110 mph.
For T/A high speed brake testing commences at 80% of maximum speed so all of G32's testing was carried out from 104 mph, which the non-turbo car was capable of achieving, so T/A was covered for future turbo G32 from the factory.
