Another Potential Owner
Discussion
Hello from Minnesota, USA folks!
I'm a current Westfield XI owner and considering the switch to a 2002 G20 located in Florida, USA. Supposedly 1 of @25 G20's in the states. Ad reads as follows:
2002 Ginetta G-20, Pearl white with a red racing stripe and red leather interior, about 6,000 miles, 15" alloy wheels, 1800cc Mazda Miata Twin Cam engine and 5 speed transmission, full tube chassis with a lighweight fiberglass body, (about 1,375 lbs), Very Quick with excellent handling, fully independent suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, double adjustable coil-over shocks, Competition upright option, braided stainless steel brake hoses, fully carpeted and insulated interior, black canvas tonneau cover, twin roll bars with Willans competition style harnesses, Smiths instruments, Optima battery, fully street legal, registered as a "1967 Ginetta"
Just curious mostly as to people's general experiences with these cars and trouble spots to look out for. This will be 95% a street car with only ocassional Gymkhana's and Hill Climbs.
If I can figure out how to post pictures I will.
I appreciate the time and consideration.
Regards,
Aaron

Simon

Ooo, look at all those twinkles on the top picture! Looks gorgeous!
I do think the handbrake looks a bit long though... would that get in the way of gear changes? It's not the most difficult thing in the world to change, and you could get a red one to go with the rest of the interior.
I expect keeping it that clean would be hard too, unless you guys have much cleaner roads than over here at the moment!
ETA - P.S. and slightly O/T, but how do you find the Westie XI? I've always lusted after those too.

Is the hand brake really that long, or is it just that it does not have a sleave over it?
I LOVE my Westfield! It's a completely different experience from all the other LOTUS I've owned, plus - there is not another one on the road up here so it gets even MORE looks than it would otherwise. My only reason for considering a trade or sale is that I don't have regular access to a "service" garage space. Because of the nature of these older British cars, there is always a bit of tweeking going on. The Ginetta would hopefully eliminate the need for constant tweeking.
Not certain it's going to happen now however... The current owner - however professionaly tied to the sports car arena - seems a bit unrealistic as to the values of both his and my car. He had not a single bid on his ebay auction and this is at least his second attempt to sell it in a year. His plan now is to convert it to the racing screen... I don't know if that is going to be enough to stimulate more interest in the car over here.
Thanks for all the help.
