Anyone owned/driven one?

Don't know anything about them apart from the fact they're based on the cortina. Can anyone give me an idea of handling, performance, build quality etc?

Think of them as a Cortina that doesn't rust, except for the doors that come from a Fiesta and maybe the chassis if it isn't galvanised. The G26 and G30 are the 4 seaters and the G28 and G31 are the 2+2. The chassis is quite beefy and if you are going to buy one then go for one with a galvanised chassis. Because the Cortina rear axle is so-so the handling will be the same as a Cortina. You can uprate the bushes to stop the axle moving around so much or if you can find one of the rare later cars that came with a Sierra axle that would sort the handling out. Performance wise it's best to go for a G28/G31 as they are shorter in length which means less weight and a slightly stiffer chassis. Build quality all depends on how good the person who built it was. It was a simple enough kit to build and if you bought a factory finished kit then the factory would have fitted the doors, painted it, trimmed and installed the carpets. All you had to do was remove the bits from the Cortina and install them on the kit.

Thanks

Don't think they're quite what I'm looking for, but sound like they might be worth a look if one popped up nearby.
