18 months ago I began my search for a Ginetta G33 having recently sold my TVR Tuscan which itself replaced a Griffith. I am still looking for a G33 and would like to hear from anyone who knows the best place to look or any leads.
I originally posted on this forum that I was on the look out but it was removed by the Mods as I assume 'Wanted' adds contravene posting rules. I hope this time they will be a bit more forgiving as the G33 was rare back in the day with less than 100 being made and I guess a fair fewer now. I think some get sold by word of mouth rather than adverts so forums like these are essential in the search, I keep in touch with the regular places they might become available, PH being the first port of call of-course and including the owners club but so far nothing.
It would be nice to think I'd be posting pictures of my new Ginetta on these pages soon, fingers crossed.

Thanks blitzracing, been in contact with the seller of that one but after initial contact no replies to e-mail or phone. I struggle to understand why someone would put a car up for sale and then ignore interest but for the moment I'll assume there's a good reason eg holiday etc.

I haven't seen one advertised for ages. When I bought mine about 10 years ago I had a choice of 3. When I sold it the only real enquiries came from overseas and I sold it to a German chap who took it abroad. I wonder how many others have gone abroad.

Mark (Blitz) did Harvey sell his car? He was looking to sell it a while back

the reason for that is: only people from outside UK are willing to pay certain prices. potential UK-buyers see it more realistic which "real" value such cars have.

The G33 for sale referred to in the Supercar thread turns out to be the same car on CarandClassic.co.uk. Still no response from the seller but I have a very tenuous lead on another G33 for sale, these cars are damned hard to find now but its an itch I just have to scratch.

Poor man's G33 (G27 S.IV) up for auction 11 Dec. £3.5k est.

Could go for much less, so worth a punt to work on and get it on the road while you keep G33 searching (probably for a long time!). smile

Not really in a position to take on another project but thanks for the heads-up. I went to look at a V8 converted G27 about 12 months ago which convinced me that a genuine G33 was the only option.
Can anyone advise where you might buy a hood and side screens for a G33? I spoke to Alan Fereday of Fereday Cars recently and he was not aware of any patterns existing?

A few have had them made. Either try the owner's club www.ginetta.org or the G33 yahoo group, sign up via www.g33.co.uk (That's run by blitzracing from on here btw)

Yes I did sell mine. The C & C G33 is very tatty sadly hence the price but a friend of mine has bought it anyway! I'm sure it will be vastly better after a year or two. I've now gone and bought a G27 to add to my collection. H

You mention the 'C & C G33' being bought by a friend of yours, do you mean this one? http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C798001
I'd also like to know how you value say a poor G33, a good runner and an excellent one please.

Very poor paintwork and chassis condition means a lot of work. Chassis rust is critcal on all Ginettas and boy can they rust if not looked after just like TVR's do. The C & C one even has mouse holes in the hood so a new hood will have to be made specially at the buyers expense. Add that to the cost chassis work and a full respray and costs will really ad up. Good cars command more money if you see a cheap one bear in mind it will need some restoration work. Look at the other Ginetta models which can be much better value if you want a G car.

It would be really useful to have some photos of its current state against the price paid? Its an issue trying to get an agreed value for the insurance on these cars as so few come up for sale. If you look at say the TVR Griff as a comparable car the prices have rocketed in the last few years- This last year I think both myself and Lez where in the £15k ballpark figure for really good cars, but I think we would be highly underselling the cars at this price now.

As a potential buyer my view on G33 values is bound to be at odds with that of an owner. However, looking at TVR values its plain to see they have risen over the last few year across the range, from Wedge to Sagaris. Ginetta values seem to have been more or less static over the same period so its hard to see why the G33 would be an exception to the rest of the range?
Not bothered whether they have risen or not, so long as I can move any purchase on when the time comes for roughly the same as the purchase price then I'm fine.
Happy to be proved wrong
