how much for a new diff for a G33? I'm pretty sure I buggered it (leaking oil, making an odd thrumming noise like a buggered wheel bearing when I stamp on the loud pedal) on saturday night near bradford and as such it is now living in a safe place
until such time as I can get organised to sort it
forgot to add that it makes a very odd smell when I accelerate hard, smells like burning fluid of some sort but it definitely doesn't smell like engine oil..

Is it an LSD?
When my LSD on the Senator started to go I got an occasional knocking noise on tight turns - sharp onto roundabout s and stuff. Over 3 or 4 weeks it got quite a bit worse. No leaks though.
Leaks suggest a bearing and seal have given up (risk being oil too low in the diff) and might just need a new bearing. If it it the propshaft bearing leaking the oil would be distibuted sideways - probably onto the exhausts. Gearbox/Diff oil does tend to have a particularly pungent smell, especially when nicely warmed!
The recon diff for my Senator cost about 380 quid plus a a couple of hours to fit. (A few things you have to remove/refit on a Senator, inclusing the exhaust iirc).
A place on Northampton was my source but I don't think they exist now at least not at the location and not with the same name.
It's the sapphire cosworth LSD IIRC, I noticed a drop of particularly gooey oil on the garage floor when I stopped, looked more like grease than oil. there were also a few black oily/greasy strips along the nearside exhaust (they are mounted centrally about 10" apart) so I can only assume that it's either the propshaft of the diff (same thing???) that's knackered. most peculiar symptoms, vibrates very hard/noisily when accelerating hard out of a roundabout or when making a heavy footed quick start for instance out of a junction, especially if it loses traction and spins up the wheels...i'm at a bit of a loss really as to what it is

When my diff went the symptom was a noise something like a gear with a missing tooth which started as an occasional thing (it seemed) but got worse fairly rapidly.
Unfortunately not rapidly enough to be identified before my mechanical warranty expired!
Didn't have an oil leak though. It the leak is related to the bearing for the propshaft you would get oil spread around and a large enough loss might well start the diff on a downward path as well.

it now resides considerably further north i'm afraid! thanks for the offer, are you on the list of members in the G.O.C booklet? I am, so be assured if you're in the midlands in need of some tools you can mail or ring me!
I broke it on the M606 (I think) and managed to drive a further 120 miles to my northern base where it awaits attention from macdonald racing of lanchester
