Hopefully if the finances are sorted i will be the new owner of a road going Ginetta G20 very soon. I'm quite excited about getting the car so hopefully everything gets sorted!
However i was trying to find out how many road going G20s were made but have had no luck in finding the production numbers, does anyone know where i could source the answer?
Regards,
Matt

Is that the one that was for sale in a dealer in Yorkshire for about £8k by chance? Its recently gone from the PH adverts, I think it would have been a good deal seeing the original G20 demo road car is up for sale at nearer twice the price down with a dealer in Surrey- it was at the Goodwood festival of speed last year, but obviously has not sold for such a high price. Quite fancied trying to convert a race one to road use, but when I found one locally it became very obvious that the roll cage was very much part of the chassis and could not be easily removed for regular cock pit access, plus the body is paper thin to keep the weight down, so it would have been a difficult task to make it road worthy. Ive only ever come across three road legal ones so far.
Id really love to hear an update on the driving experience when you get it- They look gorgeous but the lack of windscreen and general lack of any type of sound proofing or carpet may make it a pretty harsh experience. There is a lovely bit on the web somewhere of someone with a British racing green one on a road trip in Wales- only problem is its raining, and that has to be the ultimate in hard core open top motoring. I was seriously tempted to sell the G33 and get a G20 instead (is this something to do with 20 mpg one asks?) - but I suspect its just too much for an old git like me, especially now I have a heater that works...

What is a heater? Well i've got a 75 mile trip back so i should be able to report on the driving experience! I'm not expecting a relaxed or refined ride (but i'm fine with that) because as you say it has nothing at all! The G33 is a superb looking car, 20 mpg must be worth it for the noise!

So another Ginetta in the area! Mine is the track G20 that blitzracing refers to above. It's in a much more 'functional' condition i.e. somewhat track battered, compared to your showroom spec example, looks very tidy. I understand that under the skin the road and race cars are pretty similar, the main difference being the full integral cage on the race cars.

Hi Colin,Thanks for commenting and good to hear of another Ginetta owner in the area. The paintwork on mine does need a few bits doing but nothing too serious. I'm sure you've had great fun on the track in your G20, is it running throttle bodies?
Any pics

There she be after a day out.
Yep, running a 1.8 Zetec blacktop on Jenvey throttle bodies and Pectel ECU, basically GT5 spec as they were raced. General rule of thumb is it burns around 3/4 of a litre per minute on track.
Luckily I've got access to corner weighting and wheel alignment kit so it's well set up for pointy, playful handling which inspires pushing on a bit and enjoying the handling but it' still fairly benign and catchable

Ta, nice-ish from a distance but pretty race car close up. I try to keep all the mechanicals in fine fettle but I kinda like not being too precious about the cosmetics and using the car to the full without being overly concerned if I do have an off in it.
The throttle bodies make it lovely and responsive at the top end and it idles OK, part throttle response is quite lumpy but that could just be a function of the mapping, on or off is the order of the day really. I'd like a little more caster at the front to help with self centring too as I find you have to steer the car out of corners rather than it straightening up naturally, but unfortunately it is fixed and would need some chassis surgery or new wishbones fabricating.
With time I'm gradually building up a picture of the sources of the various bushes, mounts and bits and bobs used so if you're in need of any parts then shout.

Saw you out on my favourite test road the A338 on Sunday around midday. Whats the honest opinion on its handling? The G33's tend to be a bit nervous if you push them hard.
That would of been during one of the many outings i had in the car over the weekend It feels very tight and planted in my experiences at the weekend, haven't had any nervous moments so far. You will probably say that's because i'm not trying hard enough
