Having admired the G15 and G21 for many years (when Spadge was active), I am now in position to buy one. I've found a G15 for sale that is quite some distance away. To avoid wasting time, will I fit into the driving position at a 'slim' 6ft 2"? Are there any owners in the Hereford/Worcester/Gloucester area who would be willing to let me try? Many thanks!

You will find it a tight fit, as you suggest it would be very sensible to try one first; I am 6ft. 1" and found it quite tight even when I was slim!

I don't agree with that. However, today some people's idea of slim may have radically changed!
I'm 6-1 and slim (beanpole?) and had two 15s over 11 years (one was driven daily!) and had no problems. What you need though is to check the seats, 'originals' are best and give that 'straight arms/race driver positioning'. Mind you, in my daily car I changed the original seats to Huntmaster recliners and still never had a problem, even with a roll bar. (this was a good few years ago!). However, best to try. I think you will find if someone has fitted 'normal' car seats (and I've seen plenty that have done, mainly due to the high cost now of 'original' seats (if you can find a pair), you will have a problem.

Other seats not meant for G15 (examples) which will restrict in comparison to 'originals'

I believe the seats are non-original. They look like Lotus Elan +2S seats to me. The G15 is currently listed on eBay. The additional downside is the roll cage, that may hinder ingress/egress. Wish it was a bit nearer....

Full roll cage for a G15 is saleable! If you wanted to remove it.
Seats. Seller says he has owned car since 1989!! so may well have original seats unless previous owner removed them. All worth checking out.
Try before you buy, and take your time.
Check out a top pocket (££s) one too, then decide.

Not many race drivers drive with straight arms - gives poor control

I agree. That was a bit daft but it's why I put it in quotes, however, it is still what schoolboys think: I remember parking up in my 15 in a schoolyard and boys coming sitting in it and doing exactly that.

For such a tiny car it has room a plenty (and behind the seats).

This image always sticks in my mind from back then in the 70s, which is not that far off normal G15 seat positioning, nearer Formula seating than 'car' seating, just the column lowered in her Femfresh modsports 15 - she was one hell of a driver. And of course she became Britain's first ever lady national race champion in her Prodsports 15.
