LAWRENCE TOMLINSON CONFIRMS LMP3 INTENTIONS WITH GINETTA-JUNO
Former winner at Le Mans 24 Hour and Ginetta Chairman, Lawrence Tomlinson has today made clear his intentions to return to the Le Mans Series in the newly announced LMP3 class by purchasing Juno.

Tomlinson plans to use the acquisition to facilitate the manufacture of the Ginetta-Juno LMP3 prototype sports car, the Ginetta-Juno LMP3. The car will make its debut in the LMP3 class aimed at young and gentlemen drivers as part of the European and Asian Le Mans Series in 2015, following the recent announcement by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO).

Tomlinson said;“Le Mans holds a special place in my heart and it is with great pleasure I can achieve my goal of taking Ginetta-Juno into ELMS and ALMS, with a broader plan of competing in a Ginetta at the Le Mans 24hrs. There is definitely a market for an affordable top-tier sports car and I have no doubt our innovative new partnership will be a winning combination.”

The ACO and Ginetta are aligned in their focus to enable teams, drivers and manufacturers to hone their skills and progress into top-level racing. The LMP3 class complements the existing Ginetta motorsport ladder, offering graduates of the various Ginetta formulae an accessible route into ACO events.

Built around a strict set of regulations which ensures a cap on budget for manufacturing, ACO initiatives are also aimed at reducing running costs in terms of spare parts, support and personnel. The Ginetta-Juno LMP3 will use a regulated V8 engine, running at around 420bhp. The rules still allow freedom with respect to the design and development of the aerodynamics, styling and chassis so Ginetta-Juno will be pushing the performance envelope, whilst ensuring the car is reliable and easy to work on.

Juno founder and now Ginetta Technical Director, Ewan Baldry, previously worked as a design engineer with Williams F1 before setting up Juno in the early 2000's.

Baldry said;“Lawrence has clearly demonstrated his commitment to success having already taken Ginetta from a small manufacturer to a worldwide renowned motorsport player, and it is fantastic to be part of his vision for the future. Juno has worked successfully in sports prototype motorsport and it is great to be moving up the ladder. We are very confident the Ginetta-Juno LMP3 car will be a force to be reckoned with and clearly it provides another option for the drivers progressing through Ginetta’s, already established, route to the top.”

The Ginetta-Juno LMP3 is progressing well and the first CFD runs have shown very favourable results.

Go for it! If Lawrence takes the Ginetta name back to LeMans (again), I for one will be there waving the flag!

I've read rumours that Ford are looking to get back into LMP, so this could be the way they're planning to get back in. A 420hp V8 sounds much like the stock 5.0L unit from the stang. Here's hoping we see a Ford V8 powered G50 Road car in the showrooms soon....

Might be the excuse I've been waiting for to finally pull my finger out and go to Le Mans

Wow!

"As part of Ginetta-Juno’s commitment to the sports car programme and as an added incentive to those committing early, the initial batch of 15 cars will be sold at a celebratory offer of £99,000+vat, which is unprecedented in this market."
