Here are afew laps around Sears Point Raceway, North of San Francisco, CA, USA. Under powered with the US version Mazda engine. Too much wind noise, so turn the volume off.

I need some sources for spares now that the factory isn't supplying bits for the G20. Anyon have parts interchange lists for suspension parts? Any UK suppliers for G20 parts?

Help me out.

Thanks,

Mike T

Hello from a fellow G20 owner cool Which parts are you looking to replace?

A couple I know of are:

Front lower ball joint is from a Saab 99 or 900 (same part apparently) https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=saab+99+ball+joi...
Front upper ball joint is actually a pre-82 Ford Transit van track rod end https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=1981+ford+transi...

Anyone know the other parts?

Steering rack is triumph spitfire unmodified.
Track rod ends are custom welded with spacers so will be tricky.
Radiator is VW passat 1800 on the road cars
Steering column parts are all ford sierra
Front upright and bearings are ford sierra
Rear hubs are all ford sierra, as are drive shafts and diff
Gearbox is type 9 ford sierra / mazda on the US version
Shocks and springs are all AVO and are listed on their site for the G20
Suspension bushes are a mix of two sizes of triumph parts I believe.

Those are the bits that I remember off the top of my head. I would contact GKD sportscars as they bought the rights to the last iteration of the G27 chassis which uses all the revised G20 suspension.

Hello,

Thanks for the responses. My current concers were regarding the suspension bits that you have identified. Very helpful. I will contact the firm taht you identified for anything else that comes to mind.

Again, thank you very much.

The Ginetta is a blast. Way better car than my old Griffith 200 or Grantura 2A. Expected, I guess due to the age.

Which motor did you have in the V* coupe, Rover?

Engine in the G20 Coupe was Ford (at least it was in most others). Rover is V8.

Hi. Thanks for vid and parts list response.
a couple things.
Was that one wickedly fast Ford Ranchero or what. Gotta admire whoever was tracking that thing.
I also have one of the G20s brought into the US in 2001. Just finishing an engine build with built internals, low comp. pistons, custom turbo, exhaust and stand alone management. Will hopefully address the power issue which i was unhappy with as well. I'll post some updates with photos and dyno sheet next month.
Again thanks for the parts list response as well. I may be paranoid but getting Pre 1982 British Ford transit van track rod ends here in the US sounds challenging. PS i saw on another thread that the factory sent a couple people links to downloadable PDFs of build diagrams. If anyone can link me to that it would be great. my own emails and calls to factory went unanswered.

Please send pictures of the turbo install. I was torn between turbo and supercharger. Went with the supercharger for a variety of reasons. Should be delivered today or tomorrow. I was tempted by the higher power limits of the turbo, but felt the blower was more fitting to the car.

I will post pictures and my Dyno runs, too.

I'll post pictures shortly. Also torn between supercharger and turbo. I was looking at a supercharger seriously for awhile. I spent much time going back and forth and can't say which is ultimately better especially if your not looking for monster power gains, which isn't essential given the G20's weight. After much investigation I decided to go with the expertise that was available to me. Most of the system is custom fabrication by Apt. Tuning in Pa. but the spec. and tuning, especially with the stand alone are being done by Ken Hill of Oracle Tuning. He's ex-monster miata and knows so much about miata turbocharging and dialing the tune that i decided to go with his recommendation. The huge hp we're shooting for was mostly making the best of a bad situation. The car was supposed to be well assembled by a race shop fabricator in Fla for a regular vintage racer customer, but after dyno'ing the engine, not being able to get anywhere near stock miata hp with multiple tune inputs we decided to tear down the block to see what was up. For one thing there was lower than stock compression pistons installed. So it snowballed and we said might as well put it back together with forged innards, etc. and build bigger boost. Once we go for some glory pulls I'll tune it back for reliability. Dyno runs this week.
Can you tell me if you've done anything to your suspension?

turbo install. note custom windscreen. low track screen afforded zero wind blocking and large street windshield not to my taste so used the supplied screen as a template for an asymmetrical design with increased height in front of driver. can't say if it works yet. test driving soon.

Your engine bay is very tidy. Mine is cluttered with all the stock bits. Mine made 109 RW HP on dyno runs. Basically dead stock.

I did add a front sway bar. Want to install a heavier one. I hope to get the blower all hooked up this weekend, but there have been several surprises that have stopped progress so far.

Keeping the parts references all together - does anyone know the source of the catalytic converter and silencer on a GT5 spec G20? Ta!

Hello again. Blower install is nearing completion. Does anyone know what the source is for the motor mounts?

Thanks,
