G40 advice please
Discussion
Hi All - I am new to this forum I am afraid, but looking for some general advice. I am thinking of getting a G40, possibly 2 litre, to race in a combination of endurance races but also a few sprint races. My logic is that it well suited to both (I believe), is cheap to run (comparatively!) and is eligible for many different series.
Would people with more Ginetta experience than me (i.e. any experience whatsoever) agree with this approach? Is there anything I should be careful of? I am keen to get out of a front wheel drive race into a rear wheel drive car.
Thanks in advance for any tips!

Yep - love it, it's just what I wanted and ticks all the boxes.
Running costs are in th "normal" band, if you take it out for a good blat it does drink fuel but as you would expect really. On a long run it is quite refined. The only problem I have noticed is that the bonnet flaps a bit at speed (fixed with a self adhesive rubber block).

surprised to read that the G40 is only 1.04 m high (41 inch)
thats lower than a G4 coupe...!?
That's got to be rubbish. Shadi, don't know where you got that from but do you really think a G40 would sit (lower) to the right of your old G4? Trev's book says G4 is 1 metre high (assume that must be coupe).thats lower than a G4 coupe...!?
G40 gotta be at least 4 ins higher than a G4 coupe. In photos G40 doesn't even sit that low to the ground and 17 in rims too.
nice pic john, yes that was at the ace cafe classic car night a few years back
i got the figure from the official ginetta build manual !
http://www.ginetta.com/pdfs/G40BuildManual.pdf
scroll down to the scale drawings
i agree it cant be correct!
officially the G4 coupe is always stated as 106 cm with standard ride height
i would guess the G40 is closer to 1145 mm , so probably a typo

Its a good car and is well worth a look. Ask Simon for a track session in it with you to familiarise yourself with it (He's a driver coach)

I know that car and it has been optimised for endurance racing (Britcar) so all the mods required for reliability and driveability and refuelling etc have been done. Most other G40s for sale will need these mods doing.
