Ginetta G4 engine options
Discussion
Apart from the 1 litre, 1300 Ford and Lotus Twincam, does anyone have documentary evidence of any G4 /G4R running with anything else, such as BDA or FVA? Would have to be a period motor, to allow it to be run in classic sportscar classes. A "period Modification" would be acceptable

I believe that my fathers 1966 G4R ran a 1500 ford unit from his Cortina GT. It was a road car originally. About the only original G4R that was built for the road first rather than racing, so I have been told anyway. but I suspect it was then raced after he sold it, possibly with teh same engine but I don't know. My father did a few hill climbs in it but I'm gussing that doesn't really count for what you are after. The car is now in the US and owned by Mike Sweeney I believe.
Trevor's G4 book mentions all of the engine options that were supplied at the time 997 105E, 1200 Ford 113E, 1500 116E and the 122E GT. There was also that time when the 1500 Ford engined G4 was designated the G5 (but it didn't last long).
Tuning packages for these engines were supplied by Ginetta too, as well as companies outside.

unfortunately internationally they were raced in period (appendix k until 1965) only with the 105 e engine, only one car was made by the walkletts with the DKW two stroke engine, racing the 1000 km nürburgring 1963.
and the lotus twincam. sebring car raced with it, and now there is a twincam G4 racing in the Masters historic series (actually owned by the owner of the series!)http://www.flickr.com/photos/si558/8719384317/
