G15 for sale - not on PHs
Discussion
Spotted this nice G15 for sale on Car and Classic on Wednesday,
seller is open to sensible offers.
Looks nice example with chrome bumpers, except seats not orig.
Easy to bring up to standard I would have thought. Wish I had bit more room.

£12k roughly. To command top prices imo the car must be as near to original as possible if a road car.The Riley Elf/Wolsely Hornet chrome rear bumper and front split VW are now obtainable but not cheap, hence why many simply owners simply have them painted or remove them altogether.
For such a top price I would want original chrome bumpers, not painted ones - and interior shd at that price have original seats (again very difficult to find but can be reproduced at a price).
With the original seats fitted the G15 can 'easily' accommodate over 6 footers.

I paid £11k for a racing G15...
someone else is still trying to sell one in Italy for a crazy €29k
Wow! That is just crazy as you say.someone else is still trying to sell one in Italy for a crazy €29k
At least they could have got the correct indicator (amber) lens glass. The interior is, well, grubby. I hate that triangulated material that Ginetta seemed to have had a joblot of. Was it ever used in the G15 like that? Not to my knowledge. Inside the door cubby holes, yes. But none here just paint, that's not right. Perhaps I'm being too much of a purist here, not that I can talk really when I look back to what I did with mine!
All this makes the 'green' G15 look like it could be a good buy. Just wish I had the space and I'd be driving it back home!

i contacted the seller:original seats come with the car, but they need a re-furb.
the black (door)window frames are new.
the rear quarter lights can be opened (tilted)
bumpers have been painted due to the chrome been dull. the seller confirmed that the bumpes havent been pitted, nor dented nor being treated with filler b4 painting. so should be easy to re-chrome them.
every nut/bolt on the car is new and the chassis has been strenghtend in the typical weak areas.
the car is one of the rare ones without any sunroof fitted.
the seller is open for offers...so lets consider the price could be negotiated to round 12k euro, this would mean 9.5k pound....incl.a german historic registration, which for german people is worth 2500,-€ upcharge, compared to a direct british import.
not too bad, imo.

Interesting...
the green G15 'for sale' also features (pic) in the advert for one 'wanted'!

I've been reading a collection of old (1958-2007) articles in a book put out by Brooklands and what a lot of these G15 ads don't say is what engine is in them. Have they had the 1000cc engine and better gear ratios the later G15's have. The older ones are really quite slow the 60mph it seems. (13-15 seconds) I think I would want a potent motorcycle engine in a G15 that would still work safely.
This one sounds nice, shame about the wheels though -

Theres a red hill climb car for sale somewhere but can't find the ad, has wheel arch extension, race engine, cage, etc, etc, seem to remember seeing the ad ages ago but not sure if its the same one.

Concours? http://www.classiccars.co.uk/ginetta/g15/advert/11...
Very nice, and looks immaculate but for a concours G15 it surely needs to be original.
The highback aftermarket 'seats' look like they are touching the headlining!
Plud it really needs the rear Elf/Hornet chrome bumper and Cosmic or Exacton alloys...
AND naturally the proper Imp rear lights!
What's that under the rear no. plate, another plate?

The red one sold at auction a few months back. I went to look at it in 2012 when it was originally up. The vendor, who was a lovely guy, had already given someone from up North first refusal. I offered full asking and he wouldn't budge. Fair play to him. Needless to say, the other person bought it when they came down a few days later.http://www.classiccars.co.uk/ginetta/g15/advert/11...

The car then went up for sale almost immediately at a higher asking price. I was quite glad to see it went at auction for less than it had originally been sold for.
Then 2 come along at once. The yellow one probably going to sell, the other very doubtful!

(I like the 'body colour as original')
And look at the bolt heads (or lack on one) on the engine mount!
Bit worried about the thread title - will this one disappear like the 'DZ for Sale' thread?
