Ive had this car for nearly 2 years now and have been carrying out mechanical jobs up to now.
I stripped the car a few months ago, prepped it and had a respray.
Just starting to refit now.
What do you think.
Cant wait to drive it

Very nice job, Did you make sure the chassis is also sound as they can rust in some places. A freind of mine built a new chassis for his G32 a few years back. Hope to see it at Stoneliegh!

Be a job to rust as virtually all were galvanised except the very early one(s).

Is that not the old Barrington Smyth car, which would make it a very early car?

Yes, and the impossible to see/get at tubes! But I thought Trev's was a non'galv or again, am I getting old? Uh, yes!
Was it the Barrington Smith car? I know Ken Holroyd had it for some time.

Thanks for the comments.
Would love to find out more history on the car.
A have been told it is a galv chassis. I MOT'd the car last year and checked it out on the ramp, the chassis is sound.
I know the car was owned by the Holroyds but who is Barrington Smith.
I bought the car from a guy in Chorley called Alan who never ran the car, the previous owner to him was a Anthony Newell from Chorley who had the car from 2007 to 2010. The V5 says there where 2 other owners prior to Alan and Anthony.
I have adverts, brochures and magazines with the car featured.
Hope you guys know more about it than me.
Thanks
mark

I had a feeling that the B S car was the first customer car, while Ken Holroyd's was chassis number 1, but I could well be totally wrong.

I think you are right Don. But then again! It's age Don...

the only one it doesn't affect is Trevor, he'd know and tell you without even thinking!

Yes, it was non-galv, John, but it doesn't mean you're not getting old! wink

I don't have a problem getting old Geoff, as long as I don't feel it!

Anyway, I want to live to a 100 to get my letter from the Queen King. hehe

Both early and late Chassis still rust anyway. Have seen seatbelt mounts held on with grp so well worth a proper inspection and paint or wax if bare metal.
Mr Holroyd may be at Stoneleigh this weekend as he usually calls at the club stand.

I have been told that mine was the 2nd car built but the first registered.
Was the BS car the red one.
I know it was owned by the Holroyds but not sure if this was from new or not.
David Holroyd runs the local club meet so I am going to contact him for more information.
Thanks for all the comments up to now.

Done a bit more to the car over the last week or two. Removed the tank and so I could fit a new radiator. Cleaned and painted the chassis around this area and painted the tank

Also started to flat the paint again as I wasn't happy with the colour. Ive had the bonnet colour matched and the correct shade is an austin colour.
Started to clean the wheels and polish the rims, proper tedious work but will be worth it when its done.

Restauration?

i would call it an attempt to delay further rot and wear.

especially as its the demo car of ginetta, its unfortunately one of the first models and exactly on those few early cars the chassis was NOT galvanized.... poor...poor...

the body was not lifted from the chassis, only "accessable" areas have been painted with that paint finally resulting in a abrassive surface..far away from "smootherite"...engine&drivetrain, wiring loom kept in place without doing anything to them.

even the glassroof, the windscreen and the wiper-spindles have NOT been removed b4 the respray. congratulations!!!

and now finally its up for sell at ebay.... for a rather high reserve-price!!!
