Is a G27 any roomier than a G20
Discussion
Agreed, the chassis on the 20 has side impact bars (and big ones at that) but otherwise identical to the 27.
I wouldn't say that the 27 is that much smaller than an MX5 though. Problem with the 20 is getting comfortable and in and out (no doors). If you have a legroom problem, then there's nothing that you can do, but if it is height or width, then I'd give a 27 a go.
If nothing else, it will at least give you an excuse for another test drive .

Width is definitely the problem. My thighs are big enough that there is zero clearance. Are the impact bars right behind the "arm rest" on the G20? If not, could I cut out the GRP to attain some extra room?
Thanks for your help, I live in the US and would have no way of easily test driving either car before I could by.

Have you looked at the 'long cockpit' version of the G4. It's made to fit for upto upto 6'9" (ish) tall.
But if it's the width, then they all have the cnetral prop/gear linkage tunnel down the middle, and they're all based on pretty much the same frame, so nope mate; sorry but I doubt a 27 is much bigger.

I've got one of each.... The G27 definitely has more room, it's a series 3, in fact it's one of the most comfortable cars I've driven. I've driven it to Le Mans a few times, so I've had some quite long journeys in it and also slept in it on one occasion!!
Your best move is to contact either Martin Phaff at Ginetta (www.ginettacars.com) or one of the dealers (www.richmond-racing.co.uk for instance) for some dimensions.. I'm not entirely sure about the series 4 which is the current revision... I think this has slightly less room as the doors are 'thicker' I think....
Although I'm sure Martin would try and persuade you to get a G33 - loads more room in those.
