G40 in Britcar
Discussion
The first race was problematic for the Piranha Motorsport G40 in the Britcar Production Cup - with fuel pressure problems (we had similar issues at last years 24 hour race and they clearly had not been sorted, despite many hours worth of checks and changes) and the fact that we were in the same class as a Honda Integra with 280+ horsepower (by the owners own admission). We kept going to record a finish but it wasn't the performance we wanted.
The Howard/ Breeze G40 performed well but also seems to have about 40-50 more horses than the piranha Challenge standard car.
For race two of the year at Donington, the fuel system had been simplified and the decision had been made to drop a class to Class 3 by reducing the power and this suited the team much better. A 2nd in class position being the satisfactory result, despite an extra pit stop to the 1st and third in class cars as a result of the decision to switch to wets when the rain came and the required switch back when it dried! Many other stayed out on slicks as the safety car came out & judged that they could survive ok.
The car an faultlessly and the team are now looking forward to a good year in Britcar Production Class 3.

2nd in class at BH last saturday. It would have been a class win but a red Honda Civic Type R tipped our first drivrer into a spin tha cost us about 30 secs and then later in the race the same car/ driver managed to do a drive through penalty and then go through Paddock Hill bend at the same speed, as we exited the pits, to cost us another 20 secs or so. We were about 3 secs down on the class winner at the end having made up a defecit of 16 secs in the final 20 mins of the race.
The car is competitive!
