Good showing in the Autocar magazine 'Track day Car of the Year' feature in this weeks issue. Despite being one of the less expensive offerings it served up a great performance being 'second only to the mighty BAC Mono, and even beside the Caterham - normally the undisputed king of apex speeds - the G40R was faster in just about every bend'. So not a bad showing and they finished with the summary of that; 'for £30k, it's hard to think of any car that delivers a better combination of thrills, laptime performance and value for money.'
With a limited number of cars available for sale next year perhaps it's time to ask Santa to bring you a treat!!
Best regards to all. Tony

The track test was quite a while ago, the G40R is sooooo much better now.... We have a few nice surprises for our first customer cars which are in production. It's taken us a lot longer than we thought to sort the niggles. I also drove the G60 with it's new geometry and power today, absolutely loved it....... It has been a great week at Ginetta. Thanks to everyone for their patience and hard work.
Lawrence
Just need Swiss Beatz to launch it for us (not)

Lawrence. I am pleased that you bought Ginetta and are turning out some proper drivers cars and giving the brand the reputation it needed. I loved my G33, but I can only imagine how it would have handled if you guys had set it up.

One day I hope to get my hands on a G60. I fancied a G50, but I guess the road version was superseded by the G60 which was already a road car.

EVO's track car of the year feature was not so complimentary about the brakes and oversteer, any thoughts on those? Was their test done a while ago?

We're looking forwards to getting our G40R demo car in March next year, maybe we'll be persuaded to come out a race it though most likely we'll get along to some trackdays to see how much fun it is for ourselves. We should have a G60 here to view in our showroom come the start of next year. More details to follow as the next exciting Ginetta year begins!!
Happy Christmas to all fellow sportscar enthusiasts!

In case I missed it somewhere I apologize - Is there time frame for when we can expect left hand drive versions?

Has anyone actually got one of these yet, also are there any dealers/distributors near London/Surrey?

The car production specification is finalised and customer chassis are on the line being built. We have not appointed a distributor in the SE - as far as I'm aware, but we have a lot of orders from around the London area.
Kind regards
Lawrence
Ps thanks for the early customers patience.

Splendid news - at last we have our automotive industry back on track!

What's the lead time looking like, I extended my current lease car for 12 months so that I could hold out for a G40.

I'd read the Fifth Gear review on the G40 before considering as an alternative to a lease car.

Whilst an Elise can comfortably be used as daily driver, the G40R seems to be very much a focused track day car.

Maybe the car is designed more for track days, and to compare it with the Elise is rather unfair, maybe a bare S1 Exige would be nearer.

However I am a little confused where the compromise rests with this car. I see now it has H pattern box, but presumably sequential is available, is the suspension rose jointed/damping fully adjustable, does it have switchable road/race/wet mapping, data logging, is the exhaust switchable from road to race ? Maybe a G40R can be migrated as far towards the track car as the law will allow, and the owner wants.

No leccy windows, but you can have aircon. That sounds a pretty big compromise, or do they mean a fan on the dash ! Whatever it means, in this day and age of complex regulations I am very pleased that they have managed to get both G40 and G60 on the road. The days of the small British sports car manufacturer are not yet over.

Why buy a sports car that's a compromise?

If you want compromise by an M3 or similar - don't get me wrong it's a very good car but it's not for me.

I like simple and focused, even considered a Caterham as my daily runner but that was probably pushing things a bit too far!

I agree. It's great to see that Ginetta come so far, but the styling, the interior and the unknown build quality mean its not a contender for my next toy.

Btw, I commuted in a Caterham for a year, through the winter and found it was surprisingly good as an every day runner. It had a great heater, was watertight and everything worked and kept working. No problems. I don't think you'd regret it, I certainly didn't (except maybe that one pirouetting, ditch-finding incident on a cold wet September morning!).

"The only downside of the fantastically precise and responsive steering is the heightened level of concentration needed while on the road" Fifth gear...

Hmmm not sure Tiff wrote that review...

Yeah I was a bit shocked, maybe they left the tweekable shocks on their softest settings? Yet I doubt it, strange they didnt like it.

Why would anyone think EVO hacks are expert at anything except 'words'? Why do people take this stuff as gospel?

I bet if I dismantled a gearbox in front of them they wouldn't know a release fork from a release bearing, or for that matter, a driven plate from a dinner plate.
And if they're really that expert behind a wheel, surely they would be lifting trophies and making the podiums?

And don't get me started on the drivel and garbage spouted by the Porter guy.

EVO? I wouldn't hang it on a nail in a Victorian outside loo.

Hey Dan any car magazines you DO recommend then? LOL

While considerably different - I hope the G40 has clarity of design for a two seater sports car that the BAC Mono has for a single seater or Caterham's seems to have. No need for TVR outrageousness or Noble size and complexity of design issues (I seem to constantly hear about Nobles needing small repairs sorry if I am mistaken). I don't see why Ginetta can't be as successful as Caterham or Radical other than perhaps the price point.

I just want to see more rolled out and delivered before Caterham's road car is revealed. Maybe eventually a 'roller' chassis program can start for importation to the USA and then have the engine and tranny installed there.
