Hi all - first time poster in this section smile

Basically posting on my dads behalf (he doesn't understand forums tongue out)

My dad is selling his 944 cab in the hold of getting something a bit more basic to have fun in and to do autotests/ sprints etc...

We initially looked at westfields as they are in budget, specifically an 1800 zetec. Most cars with those engines go for about £7500 minimum.

By pure chance I found a Ginetta G27 for sale with an 1800 zetec at £6000. Mainly a track car bug ok for the road.

Now for the questions:

How easy are they to get into? We're looking at SEIW westys. How do Ginetta's compare?

Are they easy to work on?

Is there a soft top roof for these cars? (quite important) if so where can we get one.

And in general is there any advice for looking to buy these cars?

Many thanks in advance

Phil

They are certainly no worse than a Seven to get in and out of and yes they have soft tops plus you can get a hard top to fit too. Speak to GKD who produce the Evolution which is ....an evolution of the G27

dead easy to work on even for someone with basic mechanical skills and fantastic to drive.
Parts,(mainly Ford) very cheap and easily sourced, the chassis is the same as the G20, so no probs getting major components either.
You won't be disapointed, iv'e owned a G27DR for nearly 5 yrs and track it as much as i can afford.

The chassis are not the same. Similar but definitely not the same.

I have a G27 and a G15, the G27 is great fun and even the wife quite likes going in it (when the sun is out).
I live in Coventry if you would like to see it and talk about them let me know.

I'd be interested in knowing where to get a soft top for a G27? AFAIK GKD only have a hardtop available?

I believe they were made by a trimmer in sheffield. You could have a phone around, or if you call S&T Motors in Sheffield and speak to Martin (not Phaff) he might know, he used to build the factory cars.
