I don't know if anyone is interested in this car: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3119463.htm

But the last time I saw it, I was being cut out of it:

And then the car, I believe, was written off. Food for thought!

He did, and I'm guessing he used the number plate and logbook for something else!

It was, I really wanted to save her but unfortunately it just wasn't viable. I knocked three corners off, the chassis split, all the bodywork was gone, and the marshall's cut the cage to pieces. The engine was fine though!

Spadge ended up getting his hands on it. Looks like the engine ended up being donated to the G20 GTC he was building.

I was actually interested in buying this car when I saw it come up on Paul Stephens (albeit for less than £6k) to itch my road-going Ginetta itch. When I remembered where I saw the numberplate before ... not so much.

Anyone know of any other Zetec G27s or G27Rs on the market?

Thanks for the offer, but I was hoping for something a bit closer to the south coast.

Interesting. The car for sale is plated up then, because that was not N443OVL as of January last year. I will ring them tomorrow and break the bad news to them.

That looks like (when green) John Lyon's old car - that used to go somewhat, simply because it had Mark Walklett's old G4 Zetec in it!

Not quite following the number plate thing... I thought when Spadge had it up for sale (in the silver) it was still the same N reg?
When the car was crashed Carnage, you say written off, (as a road car?) what category?

It was John's old car, with a lovely Zetec in it! It never turned into a silver car until Spadge bought the remnants of the green car from me. So I suspect the chassis plate was simply transferred to the silver car - there wasn't enough of the green one to rebuild, I'd knocked three corners off it along with the chassis, broke the diff, bent the axle, etc. I feel a little sorry for anyone that buys the silver car without knowing its full history.

But at least it has a story...
Are you still racing with the Spadge's blue one?
It was there in Fram when I bought another silver one, and Spadge said "don't look too much at my blue one, it's not on sale..." :-)

But they are not trying to pass it off as the green (ex John Lyons) one & it does not seem to be a repair to the one that was crashed & badly damaged ie, its been "re-shelled".

Not really sure what the problem is, or am I missing something?

Hello Andy, hope you are well!

My concern is that its not a reshell; that the silver car was not a road-registered vehicle and that my old V5 and chassis plates have simply been swapped onto the silver one. That's not a reshell, that's ringing. Given what I do for a living, I don't want to be associated with it in any way!

Yep, still got the blue one! Its not been out this year with engine maladies and concentrating on the Crossle, but it will be back out to play next year hopefully. Unless, if I sell my Caterham, I move it on too and build an FIA G12...

Understood, mate. When you put it like that I see your point!

I'm fine thanks, although not raced much this year due to a few technical Vs £ Vs time issues!!! I've got a G20 now as well which I might try & race in a couple of CSCC Sports Vs Saloons races, or maybe a couple of SR & GT races.

Incidentally another road-registered G27R has just come up, with a style of bonnet I've not seen before:

I think £6950 is a bit optimistic for a '96 car, but it does welcome offers.

It's too far up North for me. And the price is a bit too far up North.

Glad to hear it, its a complex equation, time vs money (expressed in race pounds) and best kept well away from the other half!

The G20 should be a giggle, they handle really well. Bit different from your Toyota :-)

Was that a blue one? If so, I think it might be the one we now own.

That's the one. At least that's what it says at the top of this thread. For better photos of the green G27 with the original engine in situ, see this thread.

Do you manage to get out on track much with it? Must be a fairly quick machine!

Not me, unfortunately, it's the guy I work for.

It's hardly been used since it was bought as it suffers from overheating problems. It was used as part of a scholarship programme at the end of last year for the MX5 series and has been sitting in a garage ever since.
