I'm planning the trip to Silverstone Classics from Italy with my G4.
I've never experienced the eurotunnel train with any car so I'm worried about the ramps used to charge the car because G4 is very very low in the centre.
Two years ago I took the ferry Harwich-Rotterdam and touched with a gearbox support on a ramp, luckily without damages (two weeks ago I truncated the same bolt putting the car in one of my garages... ).

hi
ive done many trips in the train with my alpine-renault, but not the G4

from what i remember it is very good for low cars. some small bumps to negotiate as you drive from one carriage to the next. I think a G4 should be fine. They are always sure to put lowish cars on the bottom level so no steep ramps to go over

G33 was ok and only had 10 cm clearance under the sump, but I drove on very slowly and angled the car on the ramps where possible

Since it is my first time: is it mandatory to book for the tickets or can I arrange to buy them on site?
That's mainly because I don't know exactly when (and if) I'll be there...

Hello, I bought my G27 in Southampton and took it through the tunnel to Germany. No problem - the car has also only about 10cm clearance.
It was also no problem to buy the tickets there.

when using eurotunnel, as its not very frequented to most of the times, you can use also the trailer and campervan coaches. the entry is nearly flush...so no worries with a car like a g4.

the normal car coaches have 2 floors, use the base floor as there isnt any ramp, also the entry is same as mentioned above.

You guessed! :-)
My 8yo son has been with me for the whole trip, he is always with me in the car so the child seat is almost permament and fits perfectly in the car...
I have some track days photos where you can see the child seat.

You realise imasarati that if you start them off young in a G4 they can grow up to be a real Petrolhead!

Here is my son in the G4 in 1998 (10 yrs old).

...last year his car featured in Audi Driver - I think it's all my fault!

Hope it is true, I started off young on tractors and now I'm a sort of petrol-redneck, maybe my son will have a better future starting with a G4 :-).
Are you and your son into car/race business? for me it is just an hobby, I'm a only IT consultant...
