I have a Ginetta G27 currently 70% built, needs Painting, trimming among other minor things such as alloy wheels !!!

I rang the Ginetta Factory in Leeds to get some info on what ET and PCD the G40 and G50 wheels were so that I might purchase a set and possibly fit them to the G27.

Straight forward you might think? A simple answer to a simple question ? NO !

Rang the parts Dept, and spoke to a lady there who, when I explained what Info I was after, replied. "Sorry the wheels are only designed to fit our racecars "

So I explained again that I just needed to know what the PCD and ET of their wheels were and I would decide if they would fit my G27 as she did not know what axles and hubs I had fitted. NO HELP and appalled at their customer service

Any ideas ???

I can see where the factory are coming from in one respect, though I'm astounded they couldn't tell you the PCD and offset of their G40 wheels.

As the factory no longer support the G27 model (and never have from Garforth) they are unlikely to be able to answer even simple requests like "will a particular part fit my G27". This is where being a member of an owners club helps.

If you need PCD and offset data you can PM me and I'll try to help.

sorry,

if i phone the car-construcotr asking a technical question they should give you an answer. they should not do any judgment why you ask this question or for what car you will use her info.

PCD and Offset of Alloys are not a technical "secret" !!

and they should be aware about the fact that the actual owners of a company named Ginetta, would not be the owner without all the former models which ginetta sold!!! even when ginetta changed hands certain times, they are still using the "old" name, so they should appreciate all ginetta-owners!!

I dont see why theres unnecessary steam towards the factory for this matter and I agree with G32 Turbo as this is what the owners club is there for!

OBVIOUSLY you built the car and should know what components YOU USED and therefore should know what PCD is! Im guessing you used FORD components and therefore your PCD is probably 4x108. As for the offset it would of probably been from a Sierra so go for a cosworth setup of ET35 or ET40.

HOWEVER your car is a kit car hence if you had taken GKD's route of using BMW parts this could of changed but if you'd like to run by them seeing as they've been producing this car for acouple of years with a slightly different body style their website is http://www.gkdsportscars.com

As for "using their wheels" Ginetta are/were using Team Dynamics Pro 1.2's that can be made to spec http://www.teamdynamicsracing.com/pro-race/Pro-rac... I personally see them on every boy racer Corsa or so it feels and if you've got the extra cash I'd recommend looking at Compomotive or Revolution Wheels.

Are you taking the ... ??? Or are you just STUPID ??? Your patronising tone is not needed nor is it called for. If you feel the need to hijack someone's post on here to deliver an answer to a question that was not asked then kindly go forth and multiply! All I need is a simple answer to the question of what ET G40 /50 wheels are? They are on a shelf in the parts Dept no doubt, the inside of the rims should be stamped with the info ??? Surely it can't be that hard to get 1 or 2 down and have a look to answer a simple customer service question can it ???

If anyone reading this post has a 40 or 50 or does indeed know the ET please let me know, Thanks

I do not want to put after market "BOY RACER" wheels on the 27 thankyou very much, i would like to have a factory wheel from Ginetta !

Wow! and all that in your second ever post. You certainly know how make an impression but I'm not sure I'd use that tone when asking for help. Against my better judgement I'll risk being patronising and suggest you repost your original question in the Ginetta Racing section as there are far more G40/50 owners there.

First of all it is unfair to slag of the factory or indeed any supplier on a public forum where the person being slated does not have the right to reply.

Secondly do you really expect the "lady from the stores" to know the specification of parts. When someone turns up at the stores counter they will ask for a wheel for a G40 'please' and that's exactly what they'll get.

1. the lady could have asked somebody
2. the lady could have noted down the clients contact details, search for the info requested and phone or email him back.
3. its free for ginetta to participate in this forum (i doubt that there isnt anybody reading this?)

customer support looks differnt to me than the report from the thread opener, so why not blame and name the responsible persons/companies? nothing uncommon over here.

Yeah, like the chap who's not willing to accept ginetta dont manufacture wheels. Instead they buy the team dynamics 1.2 Pro's.

had these wheels on my Alpine gta V6 turbo
they weighed a ton more than the standard factory wheels

id go for revolution or compomotive on a G27. they are seriously light weight yet strong

To be frank your attitude sucks.

Unless the G27 wheel arches and chassis are identical to the G40 then fitting G40 wheels is unlikely to work.

Your best bet would be to work out what width and offset wheels you want, you already know the PCD because it matches your hubs. Then ring team dynamics and see what the closest wheel they make to that spec.

OMG, I can believe we lost the possible sale of a set of wheels to someone who doesn't know what hubs they have on their car and is building a car designed in 1980. Guess we will never make the year end numbers now.

Ps we don't even have a "lady' in stores, we have 4 'blokes'

Are you talking about the comment from LNT?

If so, this should get very funny.

Nothing to do with you lashing out at people with your second post. Not at all.
