I was offered a Defender 90 at what I hope will be a good price and not ruin me with the welding needed! Still using the disco but this will be the winter project.

its a 1984 90, with a 300 tdi r380 swap, internal/external cage, pro comp suspension, warn 8274 winch, snorkel, military door tops/lights, southdown rock sliders, disco rear axle, 110 front axle, polybushed, braided brake lines, bush wires, sunroof and sure a few more bits as I poke about. Rotten on vent flaps and tops of bulk head. Not yet sure how to sort them, needs an mot and had some welding failures...

Pleased though, any thoughts comments welcome. I only just started to learn about discos's so this is all new!

You got a plan for it yet? 44" tyres, locky diffs etc?

I quite like it Al! Where are you going to get the welding done or are you going to try it yourself? Hopefully it'll come in handy if we get a light scattering of snow over the winter smile

How long do you reckon until its up and running?

Its currently at a very good welders garage, so I will be prepping and him doing the work. I hope it to be MOT'd in a few weeks...

was it parked in the bush???? or has it sat there that long that the bush has grown around it??? hehe

well it looks a nice model, certainly had some money spent on it, the winch alone is worth £5-600 at least!!

One thing you might find is being so much older a lot of the bolts will be seized, but then saying that if everything has been upgraded and modded you might not find this to be the case.

The bulk head as i said is just a nuts and bolts job BUT you have a LOT of nuts and bolt to undo. as you have to undo roof to remove windscreen, then doors, wings, whole dash and bonnet etc then swap out bulkhead, but is that cage a bolt in or weld in???

still a HELL of a lot of car for the money!!!

(also if you get an ali chequer plate kit for it the have stick on cover for the vents that might hide the rusty bits by the vents)

In regards to mods, get diff lockers, bob tail it and raise the front winch bumper and it will go ANYWHERE

Yes bit silly now the disco is wrecked! Need to decide which to keep. 90 will hold it's money better but the disco is comfy and more useful. Prob just use both! No wolf spares contacts yet, do you know any? I need some little bugs for MOT but will prob just get it all from paddocks.
