Hire \ lease car for a month - supplier recommendations?

Hi all,

I'm moving off to Perth, Australia at the end of November - had enough of the autumnal weather already! I've an agreement to sell my beloved Chimaera to a friend at the end of October, which leads me needing some wheels in the interim (31st October - 30th November).

Whilst I'm looking at the usual suspects (Hertz, Avis etc.) on the Interweb can anyone recommend a small \ local \ independent supplier? Most of them seem to want to do 28-day chunks, which is a bit of a pain as I need 31 days. I don't really care what the car is, a small runabout would be fine as its only temporary

I've still got the policy that covered my TVR which they say I can transfer to another car, though a company I found that offered a hire car as long as you provided your own insurance then cheekily mandated that I use one of their "special" brokers and not my own insurance

Preferably not a million miles from Windsor; cheapest I've found thus far is Ford Ka or similar with pickup \ dropoff at Heathrow and £470 for the dates I want...

Give BTC a call, they are in Wokingham and are pretty cheap.
I think the 28 day rule is something to with how the treasury sees the difference between short & long term hire so you might have to do a 14 day then a 17 day hire.

Brilliant - thanks mate; they can do it for £532 so will keep looking for now

The friendly girl did solve the 28-day query though - the industry do things at a weekly rate, so 7 days x 4 = 28. I felt really, really quite small when she said that...

Try TVR.....yes I know.... Thames Valley Rentals, might be a little too far from you (Wallingford) but I use them all the time when I need a cheap runaround £99 per week last time (and ended up with a TDi Golf)

I use affordable Rentals at Bisley, about 4 miles south of the M3 J3 on the A322

They seem to do good rates and verry helpfull

Regarding the 31 days I think they have 1 day 3 day 7 day (1 week) and 28 day hires but say you want it for 10 days they would charge 10/7ths of a week charge so you get the same daily rate as the daily rate per week charge if you get what I mean


Just gone into their site, yes it quotes 4 weeks 2 days a £471.43
They have free pick up and collect Heathrow if that is what you want
