tyre choices??!!

well the current tyres on my pug are getting rather low and need replacing, and black circles isnt working for me tonight so i am putting it up to the masses of the SAS for possible options.

I currently have Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 and i have no complaints and will be very happpy to put them on again but could possible do with sometihng thats slightly better in the wet.

If iany one knows of anything that might be of use then put your suggestions up

the size is 195/50/R15 currently

Good point, i don't think they do.
In which case you'd be better off with something like a Toyo T1R which i'm sure they do in your size.

I had F1s and T1R's but found Uniroyal Rainsport2's were best value when I had my hot hatch. Same width but 1 inch larger diameter.

going larger is a definate no no as she sits very low and the tyres rub the arches over the bumpy stuff as it is!! If anything I need to go smaller

I put Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's on the RS6 and they are bloody fantastic in the wet, and certainly on a par with the F1's and PS2's that I've had previously for fast dry road use.

I guess the nearest in your size would be the Sportrac 3?

However; I only went for them because loads of people on RS246 raved about how good they are on the RS6 and they proved right - but no idea how they'll perform on a lighter FWD platform?

I always got on well with michelin pe2 on my clio. Un sure if they do them in your size though. You do pay a premium for them.

I've had PE2, T1R and GSD3 on my MX5 and the GSD3 were the best. PE2 felt a bit weird - plenty of grip but little steering feel. T1R are very good, plenty of grip wet & dry but slightly too soft sidewalls for me. GSD3 were better in every way except being a bit more expensive than T1R.

I currently have Hankook RS2 on my track wheels and have been very impressed with how good they are as road tyres. They have much better wet grip than I expected! They are so good I've been using my track wheel on the road all through this summer rather than my road wheels with GSD3s

I'm not advocating going larger. What I meant was that the tyre size I had was 195/45/16.

I've got a set of Yoko Parada Spec2 fitted to my mi16 (same size 195/50 R15) and have been really impressed with them in the dry. Really grippy but a nice compliant ride. I have worn them out with only a couple of days driving but as this was somewhat "exploring the limits on a disused airfield"... then it probably doesn't count!

Not really driven the car in the wet so can't comment too much, only that they have a decent tread when compared to R888's or similar, so I would expect them to be reasonable on the road.

I used Event Tyres and they fitted them at home. Turned up on time and were a reasonable price (aroung £200 inc fitting).

I have the Hankook RS2 fitted to my Elise. Don't have anything to compare them against but they seem reasonable and are certainly much more affordable than the considered best road tyre for the Elise; Yokohama Advan. Have had one or two moments in the wet but nothing major.

Just looked at BC and Yoko Parada Spec 2 £51.64 each buy 2 save £7.50 195/50r15 V, used to run the old Paradas on my Volvo, were great.

I've just put them on my Astra and while it's still early days they do seem to be very happy on the FWD. The breakaway on them when under FWD under-steer pressure feels very progressive making them a joy to drive (compared to the Conti Sport 2's I had previously they are a mile ahead).

I have the AD08 ADVAN NEOVA'S on my EVO.

They are the best tyres I have had on my car so far.

Dry grip is awesome.. Wet grip is very good too.

I came home from work the other day and it was very wet.. lots of standing water and they were spot on!

They have 8mm of tread when new also.

well i think i have narrowed it down to the GSD3 or the T1R as the Pradas i hear have good dry grip but in the wet they are shocking!!!

anyone know the cheapest place to get the T1R and the GSD3 as that might swing it one way or the other!!
