Hi,

Anybody know of either a company or an individual that can fabricate a couple of things for me with sheet metal/aluminium? We've got templates made up already using cardboard but we just don't have the experience/kit to do it ourselves with metal.

I've got some stuff I need doing to my kitcar and hence this post, but I'm hoping that some local knowledge can point me in the right direction otherwise it's a case of trawling the Yellow Pages.

Cheers,

Scott

Well I've found a company just off Peacock Lane who should be able to do it, but I'm after a straight piece of sheeting roughly 2m x 1m with a lip on one edge (the longer one) so we can pot rivet it to the car chassis. This will replace an existing sheet already on the car and act as a way of removing hot air from the engine bay. The new sheet of metal will be flush against the chassis at the nose end and then extend out from the chassis towards the scuttle by about 20mm or so.

The other one is in effect half a cube roughly the size of a car radiator width/height and if you look side on at the car you'll see the cube split in half as the base of the metal will extrude out. Easier to show the template than describe it, but it's basically a scoop that will fit inside the nose cone of the car and direct all of the available air in to the radiator.

Sorry it all sounds a bit confusing but seeing the car/templates would make it easier for somebody to visualise.

Now that somebody has mentioned petrol tanks, that's something that I could also do with and might get done by the same people.
