ROYAL BOROUGH OF WINDSOR & MAIDENHEAD
(SPECIAL EVENTS, WINDSOR)
(TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER) (NO. 1) ORDER 1999

I wish to inform you that the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, using the enabling powers of the above Traffic Regulation Order, has agreed to a temporary closure of Thames Street, High Street, Castle Hill, St. Albans Street, Park Street and that part of Sheet Street that lies between the junctions with High Street and the entrance to Victoria Barracks, Windsor. This will also mean the closure of the streets accessed via the above roads.

The Army, working in conjunction with Thames Valley Police, have requested the road closures on Tuesday March 17th 2009, so that they can manage the arrangements for the entire 1st Battalion Irish Guards to march from Victoria Barracks to St. George’s Chapel for a church service and then back to barracks for their annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, this year attended by HRH The Princess Royal.

Thames Valley Police will close the roads and clear the route at 8.00am. They plan to operate a “rolling closure” so that as junctions with the side roads are passed by the troops, those roads will be opened to traffic. The march to the Castle should be completed no later than 8.25am. Then the route closure will be repeated for the return march, the timing of which will be approx 9.30am to 10am. Parking in these streets will be suspended between 7am and 11am as per normal Guard Change arrangements; Residents Permit Holders can park in Victoria Street MSCP.
