Have sold the clio, pending the guy coming for it. So I have £1750 ish for a Disco or 90 defender but doubt will get the 90 for that. Want a offroad play thing.

A pure off road plaything which is road legal, or something you can drive every day and also take off road?

A friend of mine got the mincy version of the Shogun (the pinin I think?) and he quite likes it. Not sure how good it is off road though.

My old Suzuki Samurai made my old Range Rover look ridiculous off road. Weight is a big issue. And with a low range 'box you don't have to worry about power or torque either biggrin

Does a RAV4 or a Shogun Pinin have a low range 'box?

Not sure on both counts.

I always got the impression that a RAV 4 was more of a fashionable 4X4 and not really functional off road but I've never had enough interest to actually read up on one but that may be something to do with the fact that I have absolutely no fields remotely near me. hehe
