Roadworks M3 Between Junc 4 - 3
Discussion
Well here we go again.
The new tarmac and white lines just all bedded down nicely from the last set of drainage and sound barrier works, Central barrier all back in place and contraflow evidence removed.
Hard shoulder cleared of debris and temporary signs removed.
Driving back today I see the Yellow Specs Camera supports are ready to install.
Works being carried out on behalf of the Highway Agency by BAM Nuttal.

Before they start on new works perhaps they want to finish off what they started at junction 2 with the M25. That average speed section has been there for at least 18 months and NOTHING has happened in that time. If they are monitoring the new road layout then how much time do they bloody need, surely they must have enough data by now, what with the amount of traffic that goes through there on a daily basis.

Why not just make a new slip road to include an extra lane.
Seperate each lane with Armco to stop lane hoppers.
M3 should stay two all the way through.
Two lanes off M25 and merge them over a longer distance.
Just like the traffic lights on the slip roads being installed between 4a & 3
What will that achieve.
NOTHING

I travel clockwise on the M25 and come off westbound onto the M3 and there are usually always tailback on the M25, as you say, the sliproad should be kept as two lanes.Another smoke screen from the Highways Agency

Yes, and WTF are those traffic lights all about? I've seen them on the M4 before, but never in use, and now they seem to be popping up all over the place. All they will do at junction 3, 4 and 4a is to cause tailbacks on the approach roads. The slip road at J3 is quite long as it is and occasionally that backs up onto the A322, so goodness know what it's going to be like with lights there. Grrrrr.
