Folks,

I was looking a little earlier at the East Anglia forum. Don't worry - I'm not defecting wink It's just that a number of complaints were raised. Anyway, I digress.

But I was quite taken with how they have arranged themselves as a social group - the PHEA - http://www.phea.co.uk/

Does anyone think it's worthwhile discussing an SAS equivalent? Or are we OK as we are?

K

Any excuse to start a new thread to catch up with that Northern lottongue out

Having just read through a few of the EA threads it seems that it ran really well for a while, but recently some members have decided to organise some local meets which has upset a few people? I guess it would be like someone in Reading saying that there's a Reading only meet?

I kind of like the informality of things as they are here; regular ad-hoc evenings and hoons. But I'll go with the flow... wink

I guess a regular monthly meet somewhere for people who can't do the short-notice stuff would be a good idea? For example I know the New Inn at Heckfield has a huge car park, good food, real ale, a large area of the bar that can be reserved and they already welcome monthly/quarterly meets from other car enthusiast groups. And it's on the B3349! evil

Yeah - it's a tricky one.

I quite like the informality of what we have - the only downside being that I can rarely make said meets, due to other commitments.

Having the SAS calendar that we had the year before last worked for me; as I was able to work around it to make sure I attended them. Although I still missed some.

It was just a thought smile

Calender sounds the way to go. I think the SAS would lose its socialable form if we went down the other route.

But that may be counterproductive where Urdu is concerned hehe

I did start making a website to host all my videos for SAS regulars only. However, I haven't finished it yet, but could incorporate a calendar etc...

Think we could meet in the middle somewhere ie have some fixed meets set out for the year plus a few extras thrown in when people want to organise hoons, beers etc. That way us who do a proper job can arrange in advance to finish early, etc with the others still being able to pop out to lunch at short notice!

Website would be a good idea, that way pics and video could be posted there and they are kept as a record rather than being lost down the forum list.

I'm happy to make the website, although we'd all have to chip in a couple of quid for hosting the videos etc...

Personally i like things the way they are, although i remember the calendar and that seemed to work quite well - it was a sticky or a Wiki wasn't it?

So i vote for a calendar to be added to TV&S (because an external site just means someone has to maintain it and take ownership of it, whereas the way we have things here we all take part).

There are a few people who regularly suggest lunches, some others who suggest dinners, others again who organise hoons, and a few more who arrange things like the Ghost Walk. We all take part and we all put some effort in. I think it works.

Init?

I agree that a calendar would be good - there's so many dates at the moment too, it's hard to find a free weekend!

I enjoy the way things work now. Other than a Calender, it's not clear to me what we feel is "missing" from our current set up. The old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't try and fix it" comes to mind, but I'm happy to go with the flow.

Now, where's my sonic screwdriver?

yes I like things how they are too. The PHEA site is a nice idea but I don't think we need an equivalent.

I like things how they are, but a calendar would be handy, and a passworded area to hold fils and pics, I stopped after my first filw "educaschunal Films" as I was worried about unsolicited viewers.....

But could these not be acheived with a sticky wiki calend thingy, and robbies site, i'd ££ towards hosting....

Happy to put in a few quid for a secure photo/ video area. thumbup
I'm not really up with the play on IT stuff, but I assume closed facebook groups dont work for some reason?. Can people not registered on facebook still see photos?

I should still be able to host the videos as usual, just not all of them, I only have space for the last two runs or so. I'm sure we could get some unlimited hosting for not a lot of cash.
