Going to be going to a cottage near brockenhurst in the new forest this weekend and wondered is anyone could recommend any good routes on the way? and whilst down there.

ill be mostly using the A34 to get down there but if anyone has any good diversions to take on route it'll make the journey a lot happier!

Depending on how long you want to take to get there, I'd use the A338 form Oxford all the way to A303 then B3084 to Romsey.

Or even longer, A338 to Hungerford, A4 to Marlborough then B roads through Vale of Pewsey to Salisbury.

Great, picturesque, roads all over the Forest. The Scenic routes (actually marked as this on some maps) North West out of Brockenhurst all the way into the less populated, wilder North parts of the Forest, are my faves, bit bouncy (in the Camaro at least) and be aware of the blanket 50 limit covering virtually the whole Forest.

Will you be pressing your nose against the glass at Meridian in Lyndhurst?

A338 from Hungerford southbound is also fantastic, used to do it on the bike all the way to Bournemouth for fish'n'chips!

Well if you decide to drive down on Friday evening and you take the A34 then i can thoroughly recommend The Bunk Inn, in a little village called Curridge. It's just a few minutes from junction 13 of the M4.
