Does anyone know a reputable qualified wood burner surveyor/installation type chappy local to Berkshire'ish? Stove will be supplied, just need the survey first and the installation when delivered...

Preferably one that's recommended and reliable...

Been phoning around the 'local' companies on the industry approved list and the ones that bother to answer the phone or call back (which is about 4...), don't seem to be interested in getting the work or never called back with a price.

John

Just one thing to mention that my neighbour (decent guy and fair) had a fireplace install
done by that fire place firm on the A30 in Camberley, a gas one though.
Not sure if they do wood burner install, however it was a very shoddy install.
Gas leak and condemed by Gas Engineer as dangerous owing to carbon monoxide problem too.
Took them over 6 months to sort out problems. Needed a complete re-fit abd one pised off customer.
Avoid like the plague.

There is a firm Guildford way so Google might be your friend there.

A mate just installed one, but in the end did it himself.

I know he spoke to local outfits about installing one, so I'll ask him any tips or recommendations. Probably going to see him tonight

No problem John, I'll ask smile

He did respond to my email:
"Sorry. The only place I tried was the shop in Gomshall. That was enough
to make me fit my own."

I haven't seen it yet, but I will this weekend when I will be dropping of half a house of stuff to temporally store while I play house move over the next week.

Think we spoke about this a while back in the Prince.
I fitted my own one, easy too except I had to fabricate my own flue connection from top of housing to end up inside the chimney with slight change of angle and diameter.
My chimney has terracotta pipe lining so suitable for extra hot outlet.
Make sure the chimney or flue is sound and have it swept.
A decent sweep will also advise on suitability too.
We can always drop a camera down to inspect it providing roof access is good.

Only one issue when it's in use it gives off 4-10kw of heat and makes the whole house like a sauna if on for a few days.

Just last week had 6 new twin-wall types fitted to my pubs in Berkshire/Hampshire, found the best prices (good advice too) from a company called Flue-Stox-Southern, speak to 'Ian', saved me £3000 on just the pipes!!!

Still had their card in my wallet, the number is 01488 668942.

Edit for number.
