Well having not done much exciting stuff for a few years i fancy doing some interesting bits and have decided i fancy doing the 3 peaks and then maybe kilamajaro.

So anyone know of any good websites for advice and info on either?

ill be doing them for charity so will be pestering you lot when i go ahead with it.

also anyone able to reccomend any companies/charities that put people together for climbs up kilamajaro? as not many people i know would be up for either.

All of you!

I've done the 3 peaks... but not in 48 hours!

Take a weekend to do each - enjoy the walking, enjoy the amazing scenery and have some beers when you get down from each! biggrin

A friend did Kili 2 years ago, and she trained for nearly a year beforehand... and she had a high level of fitness to start with!

I thought the 3 peaks challenge was trying to find the triple boobed girl in Total Recall?!? Don't tell me all these years 'training' have been for nothing......

As for Kilamanjaro, I would leave yourself plenty of time to train - it really isn't easy. I think I remember Chris Moyles saying he was gonna try this when radio surfing a few weeks back. Even with the clout, personal trainer and support he will have the training will be tough.

im blaming him (moyles) for giving me the idea again, i turned the chance down in 6th form and regretted it ever since and now ive finished uni i fancy another challenge.

its certainly going to be a 2010 thing for kili but itll give me something to really aim for.

Three peaks was good, I actually enjoyed the training walks we did (Snowdon especially is awesome along with the roads up there) however the preperation we did was totally wrong and the charity we did it with *almost* set you up to fail through who it's organised.

Swerni was talking about meeting up for a pint, I'd be happy to discuss it whenever and explain what we'd decided to do if we went back again this year to attempt it within 24 hours.

Stannah stairlift? Could get expensive given the height of the climb....

Kilimanjaro is fairly easy up until the 4,000ft summit ascent which is unpleasantness personified. Reasonable fitness is required, no need to be uber fit, but more important is the ability to walk for hours up steep slopes.

Hi all,
I'm not an active SAS member but I'd be interested in doing this dependant on dates.

We did Snowdon and Scafell Pike last year. We didn't get to to top of Snowdon due to the deep snow and 70mph winds at the top! We got to about 2500ft though and have been meaning to get back up to the summit.

We managed to reach the summit of Scafell Pike. This is supposed to be the most difficult of the 3 peaks.

Ben Nevis is also on our list.

I really must get along to one of your meets for a few beers....
